TOPIC / THEME - Basic Strategies and Group tactics using screens.

  • Progress from 1 screen to 2 screens.

DESCRIPTION OF PRACTICE (TECHNIQUE / SKILL)

  • 1st Part of Session: Overload areas of the pitch - how to take advantage of over loads

  • 2nd Part of Session: Tactics to deal with overloads - Front screens - 1 & 2 Screens

  • 2 Screen Players - work as a pair with same Key Factors a single screen

ORGANISATION

Attacking - Screen Players

  • Create Space

  1. Look to play forward

  1. Support behind the ball

  1. Angle & distance of support

  1. Play into the strikers

Defensive - Screen Players

  1. Preventing the ball getting into the strikers

  1. Protect the back players

  1. Defend the space in front of the back players

  1. Cut off the channel into the front players

  1. Intercept the passes before they reach the front players

KEY FACTORS:

  • Overload across the pitch

  • Create an extra player in areas of the pitch

  • Use the Space: - Width, Depth, Shielding, Turning, Running with / without the Ball, Passing Technique.

NOTES

  • To counter act this use a Screen, 1 or 2 players.
