Rozmowa sterowana A

A: Excuse me, do you think you could tell me if there are any places where I could go and do some jogging near here?

B: Let me think ... Do you mean places like parks, for example?

A: Yes, indeed. A park would be good, I think.

B: There are two places like this. One is the Park Jordana across the road on the right, and the other is in the long rośd that leads to the park. It is lined with trees with pavements and bicycle paths on both sides.

A: Would this road be any good? Not too busy?

B: No, I think it's fine. There is not much traffic there. It's not the main road. It's rather quiet, especially in the morning. And the park is OK, too. There are good paths there.

A: Great. And you say it's not very far from here?

B: It takes about five minutes to get to the park. Just cross the street and walk straight ahead till you see the park gates.

A: Andami right in thinking that this road you told me about is further down the street?

B: Yes, exactly.

A: Thank you very much indeed. I'll give it a try tomorrow then.

B: You're welcome. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Rozmowa sterowana B

(poniższa rozmowa zawiera opis autentycznej dyscypliny sportu, pochodzącej ze Szkocji; zdający może jednak odwołać się do jakiejkolwiek dyscypliny, nawet wymyślonej przez siebie)

A: I once saw a very unusual kind of sport. I haven't seen it anywhere else.

B: Where was it? I wonder what it looked like.

A: It was in Scotland. There was a competition between men in kilts.

B: Oh, yes.

A: Each of them was to throw in the air a long piece of wood that looked like part of a tree. It was about five metres long, maybe more, and looked extremely heavy. This competition, this event had a special name - tossing the caber.

B: If it was in Scotland, perhaps you saw part of the Highland Games.

A: Yes! That was it. I really admired them. They were so strong. This caber looked very heavy. I couldn't understand the point of the competition. I thought it was to throw it as far as possible. But the winner didn't throw it very far. I think they were to throw it in the airand turn it round.

B: Oh,yes. Were there many spectators there?

A: Yes, I think there were several hundred people in the audience. They were clapping their hands and whistling when each of the men came out to toss the caber.

B: It was good fun, wasn't it?

A: Oh, sure. There were so many events that I can't even remembertheir names.

Rozmowa sterowana C

A: I have an idea. We could spend some time outdoors. I suggest we all go and see some sports event on Saturday. I think we can find a good football match. Manchester United are playing in London.

B: Are they? Well, actually I would prefer to go to Wimbledon and see one of those famous tennis players. The tournament started yesterday.

A: Really? But I think it would be better to see the famous names playing closer to the finals, don't you think?

B: Yeah, maybe you're right.

A: Well, if you don't want to see football, why not play some game ourselves?

B: Ohno. I haven't played football for years.

A: I don't mean football. There is a small golf course near the place where I live. We could play golf. There aren't many people there and we could rent the equipment on the spot.

B: But I can't play golf.

A: I can't either. But we could learn. We could ask someone to teach us.

B: Oh, OK. We could give it a try.

A: Great. That's settled then.

Opis ilustracji

The photograph shows two women who are on a ski lift going up. The women are sitting next to each other and they are laughing at the camera. It is hard to say how old they are. Both have auburn hair and sunglasses. The woman to the left is wearing a green and blue jacket over a white skiing suit. She's wearing yellow ski boots and only one ski on her right foot. The other woman is dressed in a green jacket over a yellow ski suit. She has blue ski boots. She's also wearing only one ski, but on her left foot. Both women are holding skiing sticks in their hands. Behind them in the distance some people are skiing down the slope. There are not many people around them, only one person on the ski lift in the distance behind them. In the background I can see a forest. The ground everywhere is white with snow.

1. Do the women in the picture go skiing regularly or not?
Why do you think so?

I don't think that the two women are very good at skiing. They look like good friends, or even sisters, who are spending some time together in a winter holiday resort. They have only one pair of skis between them and each of them has one ski. They are laughing at the camera. In my opinion they are learning to ski and they don't mind sharing the skis together. They may even be so bad at skiing that each of them has lost one ski.

2. What should people do to be physically fit?

To be physically fit, people should take some exercise every day. It should be at least a long walk. For example, instead of taking the lift to their fiat on the fifth floor, they should climb the stairs. Being a little physically tired helps to keep the heart healthy. It is also a good idea to take regular exercise, for example at the gym. Many people do yoga. In the winter it is a good idea to take up skiing. Afriend of mine goes jogging twice a week, both in summer and in winter, and he is fit and healthy.
