Dolgan huts

The huts of the Siberian Dolgan people are built on sleds so that reindeer can puli them around.

When the Inuit go on long hunting trips, they build shelters from blocks of ice, called igloos.

Reindeer can be trained to puli sleds and can even be ridden like horses.

02: Milk

Their milk can be drunk or madę into cheese, butter, or yogurt.

03: Blood

The blood of freshly killed reindeer is often used to make sausages.

04: Meat

Reindeer meat can be eaten raw, frozen, or cooked.

05: Antlers

These can be carved into tools, harpoon needles, snów goggles, and decorative objects.

06: Skins


Reindeer hides are used to make clothes, bedding, and tents.

The first explorer to reach the North Pole was American Robert Peary in 1909, with the help of a team of Inuit.

In the summer months at the North Pole, the Sun never sinks below the horizon. In the winter months, it never rises above it.

Sami

The Nganasan traditionally wear reindeer skins with the fur turned inside. The skins are often decorated with bright fabrics.


Nenet

Although they wear modern clothes in the towns, the Nenet often wear long reindeer-skin coats on hunting trips.


Inuit

Traditionally, Inuit clothes are madę from seal skins, although sometimes arctic fox or polar bear fur is used.
