CLASSIFICATION SOCIETY

The Classification Society ("CS") objective is to:

•    provide classification and statutory services (when authorized by flag Administrations or other governmental organizations) and

•    assist the maritime industry and regulatory bodies with respect to maritime safety and pollution prevention, based on the marinę knowledge and technology gathered

What measures can Classification Societies may

take to achieve these objectives?

•    the development and application of their own rules; and

•    verification, on behalf of flag State Administrations, of compliance with international and/or national statutory regulations
