Confirmation Testing
Patient position:
Sitting or supine, with the forearm in slightly
less than full supination, supported by the
table or examiner, with wrist flexed toward
the radial side. The fingers should be relaxed.
If the fingers actively flex as wrist flexion is
initiated, the flexor digitorum superficialis and
profundus are attempting to substitute for the
wrist flexors.
Examiner pressure:
Against the thenar eminence in the direction
of wrist extension toward the ulnar side.
