WHO IS A CAREER COUNSELOR?
Career Counselor is:
someone who helps you plan your career. His
practical activity is planning to make choices.
is our guide to the labor market.
Our assistant in choosing the profession and
the education in the form of group and
individual professional advice.
Advisor helps not only in the choice of
profession and schools, but also to change
occupations.
FEATURES PROFESSIONAL
COUNSELOR:
respect for individual differences and social
belief in the possibility of individual
development,
respect for the autonomy of the client,
professionalism (knowledge, responsibility
and awareness of the limitations as an
advisor)
active interest and positive attitude to socio-
economic changes,
openness to new goals and a desire to
constantly improve their qualifications.
A Career Counselor must be a reliable
person.
For reliability in this situation consists of two
main elements:
Competence
is defined as the knowledge of
the subject and of the issues.
Objectivity
to avoid biased and partisan to
the solutions and the various opportunities
facing the customer.
COMPETENCE:
Counselor must be well orientate in the labor
market and employment conditions and
opportunities in the local labor market.
Counselor must be well orientate in existing
facilities and the educational training, have
knowledge of the relevant laws.
Counselor should be able to answer any
question posed by the client.
OBJECTIVITY:
Counselor should fairly present the customer
all the possibilities and solutions but don’t
select for client.
Counselor shouldn’t miss any of the
opportunities.
Counselor should also strive to present both
positive and negative aspects of the solution
THE COUNSELOR WORKING TOOLS
ARE NEEDED SUCH AS:
formulate questions
paraphrasing
active listening
non-verbal communication
FORMS OF COUNSELING:
Individual counseling:
is a form of individual assistance to the
customer who found himself in a difficult
situation and loses his orientation in solution.
in that guidance counselor focuses on the
individual person.
Group counseling:
is the process in more than two person,
which allows participants to explore and
define their own professional problem, make
an adequate assessment of each other and
the acquisition or development of decision-
making skills for planning their career.

ARE:
Education institution
Labor offices (most advanced)
governmental organizations
IN SUMMARY:
Professional career counselors can support people
with career-related challenges in many ways like:
qualification, experience, strengths and weakness
in a broad perspective taking into consideration
their desired salary, personal hobbies and interests,
location, job market and educational possibilities.
Career counselors can additionally support people
in gaining a better understanding of what really
matters for them personally, how they can plan
their careers autonomously, or help them in making
tough decisions and getting through times of crisis.
Finally, career counselors are often capable of
supporting their clients in finding suitable
placements/ jobs, in working out conflicts with their
employers, or finding the support of other helpful
services.
