It’s a university located in Oxford, England,
United Kingdom and it is the oldest university
in the English-speaking world. Although its
exact date of foundation is unclear,
University grew rapidly from 1167 when
Henry II banned English students from
attending the University of Paris. There are
over 21,000 students at Oxford, including
11,752 undergraduates and 9,621
postgraduates.
Structure
There are thirty-eight colleges of the
University of Oxford and six Permanent
Private Halls, each controlling its
membership and with its own internal
structure and activities. Private Halls are
dormitory. Traditionally, colleges compete
with each other. Each year the colleges
ranking which based on rating of academic
students, called the Norrington Table, is
published.
The university year
The academic year at Oxford University runs
from October to June. The year is divided into
three eight week terms, Michaelmas (October
to December), Hilary (January to March), and
Trinity (April to June) and include some of
events:

Varsity Football Match
The Varsity Football match is one of the
oldest regular fixtures in world football,
having been played every year since 1873
(with a break for the First and Second World
Wars).
In 2011, Oxford won the 127th Varsity
match 3-1.
The sole focus of Oxford and Cambridge
University rugby teams is to win The MMC
Trophy (originally known as the Bowring
Bowl) and the title of Varsity holders.

sing carols.
