What are the pros and cons 



US is cheap and readily available, not 
invasive. The problem arises with 
obese patients and in structures that 
are deep . The imaging resolution here 
is poor desite the great advancement 
US has made in recent years.



MRI is expensive  but has a great tissue 
resolution. 



CT has a poorer resolution than MR and 

Patient preparation 



Depending on the modality various 
forms of preparation are used. 



A filled urinary bladder is requiiresd to 
outline the structures and to displace 
the bowels.



For MRI we use glucagon or hyoscine to 
reduce bowel motion which produce 
artefacts


