A crime has always gone hand in hand with a punishment. Every penalty reaches culprits sooner or later. But how to decide what penalty is the most appropriate? Who are we to decide how to punish other men? Israelis had collection of detailed warrants and principles how to proceed in case of having committed a crime given by the Lord. Ancient Babylonians used very simple rule `eye for eye'. How far this simple law is in force nowadays?
Undoubtedly murder is the most revolting crime that can ever be committed by a human. What kind of punish should meet a killer? It is expected if a person takes somebody's life, than that person should consequently lose his right to live. On the other hand one of the Ten Commandments briefly says `Thou shall not kill' thus administering justice by executing is immoral.
In some countries governments think that the death penalty would work as a deterrent to potential criminals. The latest researches disprove this statement. They show that the murder rate has not decreased at all.
The death penalty makes that the citizens feel more confident and secure. They might be impressed with the state's strong stand against violent criminals. But what happen when the death penalty is abused? People start to think that human life doesn't mean a lot to the state.
Capital punishment is still common in some countries and societies don't oppose it. I think if they agree for such a solution they mustn't feel comfortable and safe enough. The level of morality is low and compatriot cannot trust to another compatriot
