1. Disconnect the connector from the throttle position sensor.
2. Take out two screws and washers holding the sensor to the engine.
3. Remove the throttle position sensor.
Removal
1. Check that the ignition key is in the "OFF" position.
2. Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.
3. Remove the two bolts holding the throttle position sensor to the throttle body.
Installation
1. Place the throttle position sensor in position.
2. Install two screws and two washers to hold the sensor in place.
Tighten screws to 14-20 lb-in (1.6-2.3 N·m)
3. Reconnect the connector to the sensor.
Installation
1. Position the throttle position sensor on the throttle body.
2. Install and tighten the two bolts.
3. Connect the throttle position sensor electrical connector.
Inspection
1. Disconnect the connector from the throttle position sensor.
2. Connect an ohmmeter between the snsor terminals B and C.
3. Verify that the resistance increases linearly according to the throttle angle.
Specification: Measuring Condition Resistance (kΩ)
Fully closed Below 1
Fully open Approx. 5
4. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.
5. Connect the throttle position sensor connector.
6. Perform the throttle inspection procedure for the throttle position sensor after installation of a new one.
Voltage Inspection 1. Verify that the throttle is at the closed throttle position.
2. Use a DC voltmeter to back probe the sensor.
3. Turn the ignition switch on.
4. Connect the voltmeter between terminal A (YEL/BLK wire) and C (GRN/WHT wire) on the throttle position sensor connector.
5. Verify that the throttle valve is at the closed throttle position.
6. Fully open throttle valve and verify that the voltage at terminal A is within the specification.
7. If not as specifed, replace the throttle position sensor Specification Measuring Condition Voltage (V)
Fully closed 0.5V
Fully open 4.1V
