1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Use a DC voltmeter to back probe the sensor.
3. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
4. Connect a voltmeter between terminal A (BLK wire) and ground.
5. Increase and decrease the engine speed quickly several times.
6. Verify that the meter reading varies between 0.5-1.0 V.
7. If not as specified, inspect : A. On-board diagnostic system
B. System inspection
C. Intake manifold vacuum
D. Fuel line pressure
8. If all the systems are normal, replace the heated oxygen sensor.
Inspection of the Heatd Oxygen Sensor Heater 1. Ensure the ignition switch is OFF.
2. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
3. Connect an ohmmeter between terminals B and C of the sensor connector.
Specification : Approx. 6Ω at 68°F (20°C)
4. If not as specified, replace the heated oxygen sensor.
Tighten to 22-36 lb-ft (30-49N·m).
5. Reconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
Removal
1. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
2. With a standard oxygen sensor socket, remove the heated oxygen sensor and washer.
Installation
1. Install the heated oxygen sensor and washer.
Tighten to 22-36 lb-ft (30-49 N·m)
2. Reconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
