Age: 8

Aims: to learn six word for parts of the face: face, nose, eyes, mouth, ears, hair.

Objective: learning how to read and write six new words, learning a song

Materials: small blank pieces of paper, CD and CD player, photocopies of handouts nr 1 and nr 2.

To introduce the lesson's topic and to pre-teach lexis.

To present new vocabulary

To practice reading the new words

To practice writing new words

To listen and sing a song

  • T. says Good morning.

  • T. tells children that today they're going to learn new words.

  • T. gives Ss puzzles (see resources handout nr 1) and tells them to put them together. Ss works in groups of four to five.

  • When Ss finish their work T. asks what is in the picture? (face)

  • T. name and point to the part of her face, invites Ss to do the same and repeat with her.

  • Then T. asks Ss to point without her help.

  • T. draws a big face on the board and asks Ss how to name parts of the face.

  • T. draw lines from parts of the face to the words (may asks some volunteer to put the word cards on the board)

  • T. reads the words from the board Ss repeat with teacher.

  • T. gives Ss handout nr 2 and explains to Ss that they must draw the missing parts of the face and match with words.

  • T. gives Ss six small pieces of paper and asks them to draw on the one side the six parts of the face. Then asks them to write the words on the other side of the cards.

  • When Ss have finished T. asks them to put the six cards in front of them so they can see the pictures.

  • T. plays a song and tells Ss to put their word's cards in the same order like in the song.

  • T. checks does everybody has put the cards in the correct order.

  • T. ask Ss to turn the cards on the other side so now they see written words.

  • T. plays the song again and Ss do the same but this time they must recognize written words.

  • T. asks Ss to stand up and sing the song showing the parts of their face

  • at the same time.

  • T. explains rules of the game and divide Ss into two teams.

  • Two Ss from each team come to the board and draw a face according to the T. instructions.

  • T. asks Ss to find their pictures and stick on the paper and write down parts of their faces and match with the parts in the picture.

  • T. says Good Bye
