MATERIALS
A set of 24 cards, half the cards have a single word on them, the others have a matching definition. Photocopy the cards on to card and cut them out.
HOW TO PLAY THE GAME
Shuffle the cards.
Spread them out face down on the table.
Take it in turns to turn over ONE card.
Leave the card face up.
Look at the cards.
When you turn over a card see if it matches with another card. If it does you can take them both.
The player with the most pairs at the end is the winner.
Annual |
A plant that grows, flowers and dies all in one year. |
Anther |
The place in a plant where the pollen is made. |
Aphids |
Small insects that suck juices from plants. |
Chlorophyll |
The substance that makes plants green. |
Germinate |
This is the word used when a seed first starts to grow. |
Deciduous |
Plants that lose their leaves. The leaves usually fall from the plant in autumn. |
Carbon dioxide |
A gas in the air; plants breathe in this gas and use it to make food for themselves. |
Evergreen |
A plant that is green all year round. It does not lose its leaves all at the same time. |
Ladybird |
A small round beetle (usually red) with black spots. |
Slug |
A small slimy creature, like a snail without the shell. |
Weed |
A plant that is in the wrong place. |
Worm |
A small, long animal that lives in the soil, it has no backbone. |
