THE CUSTOMARY GREETINGS AND GIFT-GIVING

In Poland the handshake is an important part of normal social relations every day when you meet someone the first time. If you meet someone important for you, for example your mother, your grandmother or other woman you can kiss her hand. It is appreciated in my country. Kissing, which is done two or three times alternating cheeks is also a common form of greeting between relatives and first of all between close friends.

If you are invited to Polish home, you should bring some flowers or chocolates for the hostess. It will be appreciated if you give chocolates or small toys for children. If is it an official invitation you can give a bottle of good alcohol for the host.
