Graffiti is art or vandalism?
Our districts are full of graffiti art. Almost all garages, shops and other public buildings have walls covered with graffiti.
When I say graffiti art I mean really colorful creative and imaginative paintings which make the walls look beautiful and brilliant. You can't call swear words or stupid names or inscriptions real graffiti. I think that type of wall painting is not graffiti at all. It's really vandalism! And as such it should be banned. But genuine graffiti is an art which makes all those dull, grey and totally unattractive buildings look as if they were transferred to our gloomy districts from Disney world. Just imagine rainy, grey morning in November. How do you feel? Full of energy? Of course not! Just the opposite. You just feel like staying at home doing nothing. But unfortunately you have to go to school. And???! The very moment you see real graffiti you have more energy and optimism.
Moreover, graffiti is an art which has existed for a long time. So, nobody can exclude it from our lives. It accompanied ancient Romans, so why should we ban it from our streets?! It expresses how young people feel, what they long for and what they dream about. Future generations will learn more about us from graffiti than from orderly, tidy and unimaginative articles or studies.
I believe that one day people will understand that graffiti is a great, modern art.
