“Happy birthday to you… Happy birthday to you… Happy birthday to Changmin… Happy birthday to you…” Changmin sang to himself quietly while staring at the cracked mirror in the bathroom… they really need to get that fixed. Ah, why was he thinking about a stupid mirror when it was his birthday? It’s supposed be all about him, he’s supposed to be celebrating another year of living, being born…. So why was he like this? Singing to himself in a silent dorm with only himself for company? What a perfect birthday. He bets Jaejoong must have had a million people for company when it was his birthday. Even Yunho had a few fans at the restaurant. Changmin is always the odd one out… the one needing attention. The others get it automatically.
Bitter tear started rolling down his cheeks before he could stop them, and he cursed himself for being so weak, so useless. As a choked sob broke free of his chest, a startled gasp quickly followed as he felt two strong arms wrap around his waist from the back, cradling him in their embrace, lips kissing the salty mess off him neck. Changmin didn’t have to look up to know that it was his leadja, Yunho.
“Mmm, Happy birthday my sweet little Changdol… but my little baby, why are you crying? Are you trying to break hyung’s heart?” The rough voice mumbled while still lathering the former’s neck with sweet kisses.
“Hyung…” Changmin whispered, the tears already dried and an air of desperateness, and helplessness surrounding him all of a sudden. Changmin felt like cursing Yunho. He was here trying to feel a little bad for himself, but no, Yunho always knew how to stop that from happening didn’t he?
“You’re a bad boy, my little Minnie. Look at me, all excited for my baby’s birthday, buying him his favourite cake and present, coming home early from my schedule to surprise him only to catch him sobbing his heart out in the bathroom. What’s wrong baby? Don’t you love hyung anymore?” Oh, Yunho knew Changmin loved him. He was sure Changmin loved him. He knew this was because of something else, maybe another ‘loving message to his other halves’ on twitter from a certain someone, but Yunho also knew that the only way to get Changmin to speak is to ask him if he loves Yunho.
“Hyung, of course I l-love yo-o-u, I’m just a little c-cut up-p-p,” Changmin’s voice stuttered, quick to deny the accusation of having no love for his hyung and showing the real reason behind his break down. Insecurity.
“On your birthday? This is the most important day in the calendar baby. You have nothing to be ‘cut up’ about. Sure, there’s no birthday party or millions of people around you right now, bit who needs them? All they do is drink and end up fucking in your bedroom. Of course, you don’t want that right baby? You have me, and I love you more than all those other people who would crowd around you now, don’t I?” Yunho whispered in his ear, his hands wandering under Changmin’s shirt and resting on his heart, rubbing and just feeling the beat. This action alone made it beat faster, as well as drawing a huge smile onto the younger’s face.
“You cheesy bastard hyung. You say that so perfectly, how much practice have you had?” Changmin retorted, but still leaned into Yunho’s touch and bit his lip to stop his smile from growing too big. Yunho apparently didn’t appreciate that as he started pecking Changmin’s lips uncontrollably, making it impossible for him to stop smiling.
“None, maybe you just love me so much that you think it’s perfect,” Yunho said between kisses as Changmin’s face broke in half, the latter finally spinning around and letting Yunho’s arms wrap around him and caress him properly. Changmin rested his face on Yunho’s shoulder and let the bliss take over his troubled mind, destroying all thoughts of self-pity and leaving a pile of mush instead.
“I love you so much Yunho-hyung. Never leave me,” Changmin whispers in the formers ear, showing his vulnerable side for a second before pulling away and smirking, “I recall you mentioning cake. Where is it? Better be big, or else I won’t let you eat it off me,” Changmin warns with a sexy smirk, pulling a loud laugh from Yunho’s throat.
The dancer’s last thoughts before he gets pulled from the bathroom by his boyfriend are, Dude, the cheesy speeches are so worth owning this baby’s heart… not that he doesn’t have mine in return.
