QuickGuide-House and Duct Leakage Simulator
The House Leakage
Simulator and Duct
Leakage Simulator
represent a 1000 sqft.
home and an external
duct system, with
measurable leakages
from house-to-
outdoors, house-to-
ducts, and duct-to-
outdoors.
The inside of the tent
represents the
“outdoors”, while the
room in which you are
standing, represents the inside of the home or
enclosure. This is important to understand. The duct
system, which can be used separately, includes the
DucTester carrying case, which comes equipped
with a return grille and two Velcro sliders to create
leakage and to connect the DucTester box to the
simulator tent.
1 Unpack the Simulator gun case
The case contains:
•
Aluminum simulator frame (4 pieces)
•
Bolts and plastic washers
•
Tent cloth
•
Velcro leakage sliders (3)
•
Fixing kit for aluminum simulator frame
You may also receive:
•
DucTester with low-flow tool bag
•
Velcro leakage sliders (2)
•
Aluminum door frame and cloth
•
Fan (from Q46 or Q4E system)
2 Assemble frame
2.1
Begin by identifying the two large aluminum
frame pieces (1 and 2).

2.2
Open up the frame pieces; you will see that
these two make up all the pieces required for
the frame.
2.3
At each intersection, use the nut, bolt and
plastic washer to put together the aluminum
frame.
Note: Make sure the plastic washer is placed between the
two pieces of aluminum.
Note: Make sure bolts are on the inside of the tent frame so
the door panel can fit inside.
2.4
To stand the frame up, use the final remaining
pieces as legs. The rounded aluminum portion
should extend past the front of the frame to
provide extra stability; it stands out less than
the fan when in place so as not to be a tripping
hazard.
3 Attach cloth tent
3.1
Pull the cloth over the legs of the frame.
Connect the Velcro strip along the bottom of
the frame first. Continue to attach the cloth to
the aluminum until the cloth is tight and a
“tent” is formed.
3.2
You can change the leakage
configurations by adjusting the
leakage panels on each of the
three holes in the tent (back
and sides).
3.3
Install your door panel and fan,
per the relevant QuickGuide.
3.4
If required, attached the Duct
Leakage Simulator to one side
of the tent.
