Adam:

Sam, who are the people in this photo?

Sam:

They are my family.

Adam:

Wow! You’ve got a big family!

Sam:

Yes, I have, and they are from different countries and even different

continents.
Adam:

Really? What about these two boys on the left? Who are they?

Sam:

They’re my cousins, Billy and Nick. They’re from the USA. They live in Chicago.
Billy is ten, and Nick is fourteen.

Adam:

And the girl next to Nick? Is she your cousin, too?

Sam:

No, she’s my aunt. Her name’s Maria.

Adam:

Your aunt? But … How old is she?

Sam:

She’s 19. And yes, she’s my aunt. She’s from Madrid in Spain. She’s my uncle’s
sister. She’s my favourite aunt.

Adam:

Why?

Sam:

Because she’s very funny!

Adam:

OK, and who’s this young man next to your sister? Her boyfriend?

Sam:

Yes, he is. His name’s Sven, and he’s from Sweden. He’s a student at
university. He’s very clever, but he isn’t all that friendly. I don’t like him very
much.

Adam:

Oh, I see. Now, tell me about these people … (fading)

Unit 2 Test
3.39

Sally: Ben, have you got your project? The one about our dream house?
Ben: Yes, it’s here. Look.
Sally: Oh, it’s a really big house! My dream house isn’t so big. What’s that next to the

house? Is it a garden?

Ben: No, it’s a swimming pool.
Sally: Wow, that’s a good idea! It’s a pity I haven’t got a swimming pool in my garden. But

there’s a room in my dream house for listening to music and dancing. It’s got a really
modern music system.

Ben: I like that! Have you got a room for playing computer games? There’s one in my

basement.

Sally: There isn’t a basement in my house. And I don’t like computer games. What’s that?

Ben: It’s a garage for my sports car. Have you got a garage?
Sally: No, I haven’t! Ben, we’re twelve years old. We can’t drive!
Ben: Yes, I know … but it’s a dream house, isn’t it?

Unit 3 Test
3.40

Tom:

Hi, Martha. What’s the matter? You don’t look very happy.

Martha:

Hello, Tom. I’m really bored. It’s Friday afternoon, and I haven’t got anything
exciting to do.

Tom:

OK. Let’s go out and do something active. We can play tennis.

Martha:

Oh, I’m no good at tennis. Anyway, I haven’t got a racket.

Tom:

No problem. I’ve got two rackets.

Martha:

No, it isn’t a good idea.

Tom:

How about going for a bike ride? It’s a nice day and I know you’ve got a bike.

Martha:

Yes, but I don’t like riding it. It’s rather old.

Tom:

Oh, dear. Hey, what are those? New ice skates!

Martha:

Yes, they’re a birthday present from my uncle.

Tom:

Come on, let’s try them out.

Martha:

But, I can’t skate very well.

Tom:

Don’t worry. I’m good at skating and I can help you. Come on, it’ll be fun.

Martha:

OK, Let’s go.

Unit 4 Test

3.41

1

Maya

Maya:

My school hasn’t got a canteen, so I don’t have lunch at school. But my friends
and I often have a pizza for lunch. I love pizza, but I never eat fast food. It’s not
good for you.

2

Eric

Eric:

I usually have lunch at the school canteen, and the food is good there. But I’m
always hungry after lessons, so on my way home, I sometimes have a
hamburger or a cheeseburger. My parents come home late, so we usually
have dinner at 6:00 or 7:00 pm.

3

Louise

Louise:

The food in our school canteen is both good and healthy, so I usually have
lunch there. However, I always take some apples and carrots, or a tomato to
school. I always eat my five a day because it’s good for you.

4

Adrian

Adrian:

I sometimes get up late, so I don’t have time to eat breakfast. It’s not a good
idea because I’m often very hungry by lunchtime. Sometimes, I’m so hungry
that I have lunch at the canteen, and after school, I buy a chocolate bar on my
way home.

5

Chrissy

Chrissy:

I always have breakfast in the morning: some cereal and tea. Then at school,
I just have a sandwich. I don’t have lunch at the school canteen because I
don’t like the food there. After school I go home, and my mum usually makes
a late lunch for me around 2:00 pm.

Unit 5 Test

3.42

1

Alice

Alice:

It’s 11:00 a.m., and it’s time for my PE class. We usually have lessons on the
school pitch, but today it’s very cold, so we’re in the gym. We’re playing
dodgeball. It’s great fun. I love PE. It’s my favourite lesson.

2

Mark

Mark:

In our school, the teachers are always very strict. We mustn’t run in the
corridor during breaks, and we mustn’t talk to other students in tests. And of
course, we have a lot of homework.

3

Lucy

Lucy:

I go to a school near where I live. It isn’t big, but it’s really nice. It has got
bright classrooms and a very modern computer room. There is also a canteen,
where I usually have lunch. The food is very good. It’s only a pity that the
school hasn’t got a tuck shop.

4

Sean

Sean:

Lessons at my school usually start at 9:00 a.m. I have five lessons every day.
I like some classes because I think they’re interesting, but I don’t like all of
them. At 1:00 p.m., we have lunch. I always eat my lunch in the canteen.
I usually finish school at about 3:00 p.m.

5

Chrissy

Chrissy:

It’s 4:00 p.m., and I’m doing my homework at the moment. I usually have a lot
of homework. This week, I’m studying for my exams. I want to get good
grades, so I’m working hard. I think it is very important to study a lot.

Unit 6 Test

3.43

1

Monica

Monica:

Last year, I was on the Hawaiian Islands with my family. There is a huge
volcano there, and you can go on a plane or helicopter trip to see it. It was the
first time I was in a helicopter. It was a little scary but also fantastic!

2

Michael

Michael:

I love cycling, and I’ve got a really good mountain bike. But I only use it at
weekends, when my brothers and I go to the mountains. On weekdays, I get
around the town on my scooter. It’s a lot of fun, and it only takes me ten
minutes to get to school.

3

Eva

Eva:

Last weekend, I was on a trip to Edinburgh with my older sister. From our
town, you can go there by coach or train. The coach is a little cheaper, but the
train is faster. So, on Saturday morning, we were on the train. It was a very
nice and comfortable journey!

4

Eric

Eric:

On Tuesday and Thursday evenings, I go to a music school. The classes finish
at 8 p.m., so my mum always calls for a taxi to take me home. All of my friends
go home by underground, and I’d like to go with them. But my mum says I’m
not old enough to be out so late on my own.

5

Angela

Angela:

My family often goes on holiday by plane, so it’s nothing new for me. Planes
are OK, but they aren’t very exciting. But last summer, I was on a ship, and it
was great! I love the sea, and, for me, travelling by ship is simply the best!

Unit 7 Test

3.44

Jo:

Did you have a good weekend, Tom?

Tom: Oh, it was great! I went to London. I was at Wimbledon to see the tennis

championships.

Jo:

Did you go with your dad?

Tom: No, he worked at the hospital last weekend. I went with my mum and grandpa.
Jo:

Were there a lot of spectators?

Tom: Of course! Unfortunately, the first game was short and not very exciting, but the next

one was very good.

Jo:

What did you do after that? Did you catch the train home?

Tom: No, we went to an Italian restaurant and had a delicious pizza for dinner. Mm, it was

really great. We didn’t come back on Saturday but stayed at my grandpa’s for
Sunday.

Jo:

Oh, so what did you do on Sunday? Did you see more tennis games?

Tom: No, we just went for a walk in the park. And then we caught the train home after

dinner.

Jo:

Sounds like a really nice weekend.

Tom: It was.

Unit 8 Test

3.45

1

John

John:

We often go to the mountains at weekends. We’ve got a small house there
and there’s a beautiful lake nearby. But this weekend we’re going to have a
picnic by the river near our town. And after that we’re going to go canoeing
on the river. It’s going to be a lot of fun!

2

Luke and Grace

Grace:

Luke, it’s Mike’s birthday next Friday. Have you got a present for him?

Luke:

Not yet. I’m going to look for something this afternoon.

Grace:

What are you going to buy him? Maybe a computer game?

Luke:

No. I don’t think he likes playing computer games. But he’s really into sports
and he also enjoys reading.

Grace:

So, how about a football?

Luke:

Actually, I’m thinking of buying him something to read, maybe a book about a
famous sportsperson.

Grace:

3

Katie

Katie:

I can’t wait to start my summer holidays. At the end of June my aunt and
cousin from Italy are coming to see us. Later, I’m flying with them to their
home in Italy and I’m going to stay there for two weeks in July. Then I’m at
home for a while, but in August my parents and I are going to stay in London
for a week. It’s going to be great!

4

Lisa and Mark

Mark:

Hi, Lisa. Why don’t we go to the cinema this afternoon?

Lisa:

I’m sorry, Mark, but I can’t.

Mark:

Why not? Are you ill or something?

Lisa:

No, I’m fine.

Mark:

If it’s because you haven’t got money for the ticket, it’s no problem. My
brother gave me two. We don’t have to pay for them.

Lisa:

Thanks, but I really need to finish my science project for Monday.

Mark:

Oh, I see. OK, maybe next time.

Lisa:

Sure.

5

Man:

OK, please listen carefully. I’d like to tell you about our plans for the rest of
the day. After lunch we’re going for a walk around the lake. It’s a beautiful
area, so there are lots of places where you can take some nice photos.
Remember that the lake is home to wild birds, so try to keep quiet. And stay
on the path all the time. The wood around the lake is big, so don’t walk off.
It’s going to be a long walk, so take some water and sandwiches with you.

Units 1–4 Progress Test

3.46

1

Dave:

My name’s Dave, and my project is about sports. I love doing sports in my free
time. My favourite is watersports. My brother, Adam, and I attend a
swimming club in our town three times a week. I also go sailing on a lake with
my mum and dad in the summer. Adam doesn’t like sailing. He prefers
windsurfing. Now, I’d like to show you some photos … (fading)

2
Mia:

I’m Mia, and my project is about jobs for teenagers. A lot of teenagers like
going out with their friends, so we sometimes need to earn some extra
money. In fact, most of the teenagers I know do something to earn money.
Some of them wash cars or walk dogs. I like children, so, I sometimes stay with
my neighbours’ little daughter when they go out to the cinema or to a
restaurant. Other popular jobs for teenagers include working at shops at
weekends … (fading)

3
Adrian:

My name’s Adrian, and my project is about teenagers’ eating habits. A lot of
teenagers are like my friends because they don’t have a very healthy diet.
When we go out, we often go to a fast food restaurant. My friends love
hamburgers, but I don’t, so I usually just have some ice cream or a piece of
cake. OK, when I’m really hungry, I get a cheeseburger but it isn’t very often.
Now, what about eating the five a day … (fading)

4
Izzie:

I’m Izzie, and my project is about typical houses in my town. Most of the
houses have two floors and three or four bedrooms. Only a few have more
than that. Almost every house in my town has got a small garden with a fence
in front of it, and they also have a garage. Some houses have got a basement,
but not all that many. OK, now what about the rooms …? (fading)

5

Paul:

I’m Paul, and my project is about the seasons and the weather in my country.
Let’s start with spring. Early spring, which starts in March, is often not very
nice. It’s usually still quite cold and wet and it sometimes snows, too. But the
weather gets much better in the middle of April, because it’s often warm and
sunny, but it can be windy, too. May is usually very warm and occasionally
hot, but it’s also usually very wet. OK, now about a typical summer …? (fading)

Units 5–8 Progress Test

3.47

Lisa: Hi, Ben. Did you have a good weekend?
Ben: Hello, Lisa. Yes, thanks. It was really good.
Lisa: What did you do?

background image

Brainy klasa 5. Tests Audioscript

8

Ben: Well, on Friday I went to Robert’s birthday party. Actually, his birthday was on the

second of June, but that was a Thursday, so he had his party the next day, on the
third.

Lisa: I see. Did you have a good time?
Ben: Sure. It wasn’t a big party, just a few friends, but we had a great time. There was

some really good food.

Lisa: What did you buy him for his birthday?
Ben: Well, you know he’s a big fan of computer games, but we decided to buy him a

board game. It’s more fun than sitting in front of a computer all day. We played it
during the party. What about your weekend? Did you stay at home?

Lisa: No, I didn’t. I went with my parents to the mountains on Saturday.
Ben: Nice. What did you do there?
Lisa: Well, my dad wanted to climb a mountain, but my mum and I didn’t want to do that.

We wanted to go to the woods, so we went for a long walk in the afternoon. We
came back home on Saturday evening.

Final Test

3.48

1

Woman:

So, Lucy, how are the shoes?

Girl:

They’re OK, but I don’t like the colour. Have they got them in green or blue?

Woman:

No, they haven’t. Do you want to go to another shop?

Girl:

Yes, that’s a good idea.

2

Tom:

Hi, Linda, are you at home?

Linda:

Hello, Tom. No, I’m not. I’m in the mountains with my parents.

Tom:

Oh, great! What are you doing?

Linda:

Well, we went for a long walk around a lake in the morning. We came back a
few minutes ago. Now, we’re having something to eat and then we’re going to
make a fire.

Tom:

That sounds like fun.

3

Man:

Beth, you were late for school this morning.

Girl:

I’m sorry, Mr Benson. I got up late and I didn’t catch the bus. So, I had to walk
and I was late.

Man:

OK, but it’s important to be on time for classes.

Girl:

Yes, sir.

4

Woman:

Ken, what are you doing? I need some help. Our guests are going to arrive
soon.

Boy:

OK , mum. What do you want me to do?

Woman:

There are some dirty dishes in the kitchen. Can you do the washing up,
please?

Boy:

Mum, I hate that. Can I vacuum the carpet instead?

Woman:

All right.

5

Mia:

Mark, let’s take a break from all this maths. I’m kind of hungry.

Mark:

Good idea, Mia.

Mia:

Would you like some fruit?

Mark:

Fruit? Haven’t you got any crisps or something?

Mia:

I’m afraid not. My mum doesn’t let me eat junk food or have any fizzy drinks,
so we usually don’t have stuff like that at home. Wait a minute! I got a box
of chocolates for my birthday. Here you are.

Mark:

Thanks.
