Jackie:
Well I hope you listened closely to those expressions, as we’ve got a
chance to practise now. I’m going to give you a context. After each
context, I want you to respond with a sentence out loud that uses some
of the expressions we looked at. Try to use a different expression each
time. Here’s an example: Question - You spill some soup on your shirt.
What could you say? Answer – You could say, ‘Oh bother! I’ve spilt
soup on my shirt!’ Now it’s your turn, and try to remember to use a
different expression each time.
You’re running for the bus, but you just miss it. What could you say?
Say it out loud.
Your sister often forgets to lock her front door. You go out for dinner
with her one evening, then she suddenly realises she’s forgotten to lock
her door yet again! What could you say?
You’re cleaning your house and you accidentally break a plate. What
might you say?
Then you smash a glass on the floor. What else could you say?
You find out that for the third time this week your train into work has
been cancelled. You’re very cross. What could you say?
Well I hope you managed to remember some of the expressions we
looked at today. To keep improving your English keep using our
website, bbclearningenglish.com. That’s all for now. Goodbye!
