MATERIALS
Worsted Weight Yarn (Medium #4) (350 yards total)
MC (main color) head and ears; CC (contrasting color) nose
and blaze; AC (accent color) mane
Black or other color for hooves, nostrils, eyes
Crochet Hook I (5.5mm) – or hook recommended by your yarn
Crochet Hook G (4.0-4.5mm) – or a size or two smaller recommended
Tapestry Needle, Stitch Marker, Fiberfill
NOTES
Gauge is not important to this project – so you may use other weights of yarn as well. Just make sure you are
using a comfortable hook for the yarn you choose.
An I hook with worsted weight yarn should give you around an 18” blanket square.
Use a size or two smaller than recommended by your yarn for the head and arms to make sure the stuffing
doesn’t show through
Use the stitch marker to hold your place on the continuous rounds

Finish off CC. Embroider on eyes. Stitch multiple times
over top of the third and fourth stitches from the sides of
the CC on the last increase round of CC (R14). Embroider
on nostrils to the side of the nose.

Weave in all tails.
MANE
Cut 8” pieces of AC yarn. Insert your hook around the desired stitch. Fold a piece of yarn in half and place the looped end
around the hook. Pull through the stitch. Pull the tails of your loop through the loop and pull tight. Repeat. The mane
pictured is 3 to 4 loops thick and is from the top of the head to the middle back of the head. Give your horse a haircut as
necessary!
