Dots Invasion Dress

Description: A maxi dress cut under bust, which flares towards the hemline.
Size: 38-40 (bust 88cm, waist 76cm, hips 100cm)
Seam allowances are not included. Add 1.5 cm wide seam allowances.
Pattern pieces:
1. Front bust cup – cut 2x
2. Front neckline inset with straps –
cut 2x
Neckline facing – cut 2x
3. Front under-bust yoke – cut 1x
on fold
4. Front center bottom – cut 1x on
fold
5. Front side bottom – cut 2x
6. Back top – cut 2x
7. Back under-bust yoke – cut 2x
8. Back center bottom – cut 2x
9. Back side bottom – cut 2x
Notions:
• Fabric 2.00m x1.40m
• Invisible zipper
Front
• Bottom skirt panel - Join pieces “4” and “5” following the notch 1. Repeat the process for left and
right sides.
• Bottom under-bust panel - Attach the front under-bust yoke (piece “3”) to the bottom skirt panel,
following the notch 2.
• Bust panel – Using a 4mm stitch on your machine, sew 2 parallel stitches on the piece “1”, between
notches 4 and 5. Repeat the process on both lift and right pieces. Pin the piece “1” to the piece “2”,
where the notches 4 and 5 coincide. Pull the threads of the stitches to gather the piece “1”. Repeat
the process on both left and right sides. Baste the pieces together and machine-sew them afterwards.
Sew the left and right “2” pieces together, following the notch 6.
• Front panel – Sew the Bottom under-bust panel to the Bust panel, following the notch 3
Back
• Bottom skirt panel – Join the pieces “4” and “5” following the notch 8. Repeat the process for both
left and right sides.
• Bottom under-bust panel – Join the bottom skirt panel with under-bust panel (piece “7”) following
the notch 9
• Back panel – Join the Bottom under-bust panel with the Back top piece (piece “6”), following the
notch 10
• Zipper – Attach the zipper to the back seam
Side seams
• Join the back and front pieces following the notch 7. Repeat the process for both left and right
seams.
Facing the top
• Cut 2 straps of fabric, approximately 4 cm wide. For the length – measure the length of top bust
from the notch 5 on the front bust cup piece to the notch 11 on the back top piece.
• Rip off few stitches of the top bust cup – front neckline inset seam, to the total length of 2.5 cm.
• With right sides together, place the strap over the top of the dress, and stitch the pieces together.
• Turn the facing inwards, fold the lower seam allowance and pin the facing to the dress. Stitch the
facing to the dress.
• Sew back the stitch of the top bust cup – front neckline inset seam.
Neckline and straps
• Join the facing pieces (piece “2”) following the notch 6.
• With right sides together place the facing piece over the inset and pin the pieces together. Sew the
Neckline seam, continuing to the end of straps. Sew the outer seam from top bust cup point (notch 5)
to the end of the strap.
• Turn the straps inside out. Iron the straps.
• Fold inwards the seam allowances of the facing and pin the inset to the neckline inset. Hand-sew the
facing to the inset, making sure the stitch does not show on the right side of the dress.
• Stitch the back ends of straps to the back of the dress.
Hem the dress.
