Paragraph 1: The introduction, saying what you are applying for.
I would like/wish to apply for …
Paragraph 2: Details of yourself in this order:
Age, nationality, sex, whether married or single; details of your
education, naming the schools, etc., and the years you attended each.
Paragraph 3: Explain your English studies – how many years, and approximately
number of hours, lessons, etc., and weekly. Give details of the highest
examination passed and of any certificate(s) gained. Mention any
special success in English!
Paragraph 4: Give your reason(s) for applying for work, course, scholarship, etc.
Say what you are ready to put into it (how hard you will work, and so
on), and what you hope to gain from it. Use the word ‘try’ in this
paragraph.
Paragraph 5: Mention anything similar to this work, course, scholarship, etc., ever
undertaken by you. Give details of anything you’ve done that is
related to the thing applied for. Attach references if possible.
Paragraph 6: Conclusion: Say you are ready to turn up at any time; that you hope
your Application will be well received.
