2.1 General

instructions:

2.1.1.1 Note on error messages

To differentiate error messages with DZ machines as to which "side" the fault has occurred, index
number (1) [spindle 1 (left)] , or (2) [spindle 2 (right)] is displayed after the error message.

2.1.1.2 „Emergency Off“ on running up the tool changer

If the machine control "is switched off"

while the tool changer is moving up, the tool remains

released until the "Tool changer up" limit switch responds.
(Safety function so that no movement can be made against the closed collet chuck).

2.1.1.3 Machine movement as soon as the tool changer is not "up"

If the tool changer is not „up“, it is only possible to move the axes in operating mode „JOG“

and

by simultaneously pressing the „door bypass button".

Function "Manual tool change"

must not be active.

(Key „Rapid“

is however not active).

2.1.1.4 Changing tools

If a tool is called which is not next to the "tool to be deposited", the new tool will be swivelled
downwards as soon as the tool to be deposited no longer registers "down".
Otherwise, a pause is made until the "tool to be deposited" registers that it is up.

2.9 Tool clamped monitoring "Digital“

2.9.1 Monitoring:

"Tool correctly clamped"

¾ In this version, monitoring is carried out to see if the tool is "correctly“ clamped in the spindle.

¾ This is carried out with three inductive sensors which are set differently.

(Observe the setting instructions in this respect).

¾ This monitoring is initiated, as soon as one of the sensors „Clamped up“ or „Clamped down“ signals.

¾ In event of this monitoring being accidently activated through erroneous triggering of the PLC input signals,

deletion is only possible through the input of "M88" + "H57" and simultaneous activation of the "Rapid"

key.

¾ With these sensors one can monitor, whether

1.) the tool is „correctly“ clamped

2.) the tool is „wrongly“ clamped

3.)

clamping has been made „without“ a tool.

2.10.2 Setting instructions draw bar query SK40 / HSK-A63 spindle

⇒ In place of the inductive sensor for "Tool clamped up“ (S325), an "analogue sensor“ (B40) of the

same size is used here.

⇒ The setting of both sensors (inductive) for "Tool clamped down“ (S326) and "Tool released“ (S115)

remains unchanged.

⇒ Insert the analogue sensor (B40) up to the limit stop in the clamping holder and then set it - with the

setting tool "short" clamped - for HSK-A63 (BWM123003401) and for SK40 (BWM123007000) by
turning the eccentric so that a voltage of 8.00 V (+0,5) is displayed on the screen.

⇒ For "long“ tool holders, a lower voltage is displayed.
⇒ This setting ensures that chip detection, which depends on the voltage and the cover of the analogue

sensor, occurs in a steep curve range.

3.) Have the voltage displayed in the control

The analogue value required for setting can be found under
[CHIRON] – [Diagnosis total] – [Tool changer] – [Tool cl.system.]

IMPORTANT:

Read off all analogue values for spindle position at 0 degrees

(M19).

4.) Set the height of the analogue sensor via the eccentric until a voltage of 8.00 Volt (+0.5) is
achieved

5.) Tighten the clamping screw

6.) With a DZ machine, repeat this procedure for the second spindle

Causes of errors:

If the voltage value cannot be set, this may be due to the following reasons:

-

The analogue sensor is not pressed up to the block in the plastic sleeve.

-

Incorrect wiring of the analogue sensor.

Slot for setting the height via
the eccentric using a
screwdriver.

Setting the voltage value
with the setting tool to

8.00V (+0.5)

After the analog sensor is set
to the correct voltage, the
value can be taught with the
[learn S1 clamped] softkey.

2.10.3 Tool clamped monitoring

⇒ "Tool clamping" monitoring occurs via an "analogue sensor" with suitable "analogue input

module“.

⇒ Depending on the position of the draw bar (indicating sleeve) and the resulting covering up of

the analogue sensor, different voltages are output.

⇒ The voltage is passed on to the PLC in binary form from the "analogue input module".

2.10.7 Monitoring of dynamic range "Tool clamped"

The tools are only dynamically monitored in the range of the analogue value (approx. 8.0 V) learned
once with the setting tool, with a tolerance of (+1.5 / -5.0).

When changing in the tools into the spindle by hand, it is assumed that the tool holder is clean and that
no chip is between the holder and the square face of the spindle.

If a tool is now changed by hand into the spindle, when the tool is deposited, the current actual value is
saved as the reference value in a data word explicitly for this tool.

Reference values spindle 1

Reference values spindle 2

„ „ „ „

DB222.DBD180[G] = WZ 20

DB223.DBD180[G] = WZ 20

When the tool is automatically changed into the spindle, it is checked every time whether the analogue
voltage "Tool clamped" is in the range of the reference value (+/- 1.2V).

If the current value is outside the tolerance, the tool change is still carried out, and then there is a "Feed
Stop".
Cause: There are probably chips between the tool holder and the square face.

The following messages for Spindle 1 or Spindle 2 are output, and the LED of the corresponding key

2.11 Square face check

2.11.1 General instructions

⇒ The square face is checked by means of the analogue sensor for "Tool clamped monitoring".
⇒ The goal of this function is to monitor whether small chips have gotten in between the tool taper and

the spindle as tools are being changed into the spindle, which can result in imprecise machining.

⇒ The square face check is activated as follows:

1.) Each tool can be separately monitored with an M-function before the tool change.
2.) The monitoring for all tools is active by setting a machine parameter.

⇒ When tools are automatically changed into the spindle, it is monitored whether the tool is positioned

square to the spindle, or whether there are any chips between the spindle and the tool taper.
The "fine" monitoring range can be set via a machine parameter.
(The standard setting is 100 mV, which corresponds to a chip size of approx. 0.04 mm)

⇒ This means that as soon as there is even a tiny chip between the tool holder and the spindle take-

up, this is detected, the square face is rinsed off (optional) and later an informational message is
output.

⇒ As soon as a tool is in action, the analogue value difference between the previous changing-in and

the new changing-in is compared and evaluated accordingly.

⇒ After the machine has been stopped for >20 minutes or after switching on the main switch, the "fine"

monitoring is cleared and the tools are only "roughly" monitored the next time a tool is changed in.
This clearing of the "fine" monitoring is necessary, since when the machine stands still for long
periods of time, greater deviations can result in the analogue voltage due to thermal changes. This
would result in error messages, then, during the 1st tool change.

⇒ If the square face monitoring is activated for a tool, this tool is additionally rinsed off before changing

it in (optional).

2.11.5 Rinsing the tool holders

Description of procedure:

⇒ For this, the functionality of the coolant-through-tool is used.

For this reason, the precondition is that the machine is equipped with this.
If the machine is also equipped with a variable high-pressure stage, rinsing is carried out with a
pressure stage of 50 bar.
If the machine is not equipped with internal cooling, the tool is blown off.

⇒ When the tools are loaded, rinsing of the square face is switched on.

This is done with the tool unclamped via the outer bores of the spindle.
Rinsing is performed until the tool changer is moved upwards.

⇒ If the tool was "correctly" clamped, the tool change is ended and the machining program continues.

Otherwise, the tool changer is moved down again and then the square face is rinsed for 2 seconds.

⇒ Now it is again attempted to clamp the tool.
⇒ As long as the tool now signals OK, the tool change is ended and the machining program continues.

Otherwise, the tool holder is rinsed again.

⇒ If this attempt, too, is not successful, the tool changer is moved down again.
⇒ There is a Feed Stop and the following error messages are registered:

700434 0 0 "Tool holder soiled (1) --> Please clean." Page 41.

700435 0 0 "Tool holder soiled (2) --> Please clean." Page 41.

⇒ How to further proceed can be found under the respective error message.

2.12 Functions for DZ and individual operation of the spindles

2.12.1 General

information:

For operating the DZ machine, user cycles DZ_WZW_ASUP and SPOS_FZ_DZ must be available.

2.12.2 Positioning:

Positioning both spindles to the same position is only possible with command M19 (value)

M19(value)

=

Both spindles are positioned at the position in brackets.

(In doing this the spindles are uncoupled).

The pre-condition for this is that user cycle SPOS_FZ_DZ must be available.

2.12.3 Individual operation of the spindles:

M13

=

Spindle 1 right rotation

(DZ)

(Spindles are uncoupled)

M14

=

Spindle 1 left rotation

(DZ)

(Spindles are uncoupled)

M15

=

Spindle 1 stop

(DZ)

(Spindles are re-coupled)

M23

=

Spindle 2 right rotation

(DZ)

(Spindles are uncoupled)

M24

=

Spindle 2 left rotation

(DZ)

(Spindles are uncoupled)

M25

=

Spindle 2 stop

(DZ)

(Spindles are re-coupled)

The spindles can be individually operated with these functions.
(Pre-condition: user cycle SPINDEL_KOP is available)

In doing this the S command must be one block in front of the M command, because the M command is a sub-
routine call. (This sub-routine controls coupling and uncoupling the spindles)

Example:

S1000

S500

M23

M14

M25

M15

Spindle 2 right rotation

Spindle 1 left rotation

After every change of speed (S1000) the M function also has to be output (S1500 ; M24).

2.14.9 700237 0 0 "TOOL NOT EJECTED"

Cause:

¾ This message appears if the "beating cycle" was not successful.

¾ The beating cycle reacts to two different problems

a) the tool was not correctly released.

b) the tool was released, the tool changer was sent the signal to move down, but it hasn't
left its "up" position (The tool is jammed in the spindle).

Conseq.:

¾ The signal "Release tool" remains pending following the "beating cycle".

¾ By activating the "Door bypass button"

the protective door can be unlocked and then

opened.
In the case of automatic doors, the protective door can be opened with the button "Open

protective doors"

.

¾ Now the tool can be released "mechanically" (with a rubber hammer) if it is jammed.
¾ Once the tool is released, the door must be closed and the machining program can

continue by pressing the keys "Feed Start"

or "Cycle Start"

.

Press 2x: (When the button is pressed the first time: "Lock protective doors" , second time:
"Acknowledge error").

Remedy:

¾ a) Check the valve "Release tool" and the PLC output signal.

Check "Tool released" sensor and the PLC input signal.
Check to see if the tool has become jammed in the spindle.

¾ b) Check the valve "Tool changer down" and the PLC output signal.

2.14.11 700435 0 0 "Tool holder soiled (2) --> Please clean."

Cause:

¾ The tool was clamped during the tool change, but the tool holder is not yet correctly

positioned in the spindle.

Possible cause:
There is a chip between the tool holder and the spindle take-up.

¾ When a tool is changed in automatically, it is checked every time whether the current

actual value (analogue voltage of the "Tool clamped monitoring") is in the range of the
reference value of the tool (rough/fine).

Conseq.:

¾ The effect depends on which monitoring type is active.

ƒ With rinsing of the tool cone in case of a fault in square face monitoring

MD 14512[2]Bit2 = 0.

o

If there is an error, the tool changer is moved down and the machine comes to

a stop on the change level with "Read disable“ and "Feed stop".

o

Now the tool can be cleaned and then machining can be continued.

ƒ Without rinsing of the tool cone in case of a fault in square face monitoring

2.14.12 700252 0 0 "TOOL STILL IN SPINDLE"

Cause:

¾ A tool change is activated, but „T0“ occurs with a tool in the spindle.
¾ A tool was previously manually inserted in the spindle.
¾ Tool monitoring detects a tool clamped in the spindle, although no tool arm (T0) is under

the spindle.

Conseq.:

¾ „Feed Stop“ and „Read disable“ are active.
¾ A tool change is not possible.

Remedy:

¾ The

tool

must be manually removed from the spindle.

¾ The "Tool clamped monitoring" PLC input signals should be checked, however, if there is

no tool in the spindle.
