Yarn:

Worsted or aran weight yarn, two strands of yarn held together for head

and basket and just one strand of yarn for arms, body and hood. Colours: skin
colour, red, yellow, brown and white.



I always use an invisible decrease, so the decreases won’t show.
Invisible decrease, 2 stitches: in front loops only: insert in first
stitch, insert in next, yarn over, pull through both stitches, yarn
over, pull through last.

Note:
Chains at beginning of round always counts as first stitch, so the actual stitch underneath will be skipped.

Cut yarn but leave a long tail to attach arms with. You don’t have to stuff the arms, that
will keep them more flexible. Attach arms in row 18. While attaching the arms, sew
through the neck a few times to close the gap.

Hood & hair

With one strand, red
Rnd 1: ch20
Rnd 2: sc in 2nd ch from hook, 18sc (20)
Rnd 3 – 18: turn, ch1, 19sc (20)

Fold in half so the two sides of the starting chain are against each other and sew them
together. (Try the hood on, if it’s too short you can add some extra rows till it fits.)
Rnd 19: turn, ch1, 18sc, 3sc in last, continue around the corner in the sides, ±38sc untill
you’re back at the start (the number of sc’s don’t really matter for the rest of the pattern)
with white 3sc in corner.

Rnd 20: with white, sl st in first, *1dc, 1sl st* repeat till end (don’t go around corner), cut
yarn and weave in ends.

Rnd 21: with yellow for hair, crochet along the sides, starting in the 5

th

stitch from corner, in front loops only, sc untill

you’re 4 stitches away from other corner.

Rnd 22: turn, ch1, sc untill you’re 5 stitches away from centre, skip 2, 6dc in next, skip 2, 1sc, skip 1, 3dc in next, skip 1, sc
to end.
Leave a long tail to sew in place, turn hood inside out (good side without the upper seam out) and place on head.
Sew hair in place with yellow and close the hood in stitch under hair.

Basket:

Rnd 1: with two strands of brown start with a magic loop, 6sc in loop (6)
Rnd 2: 2sc in every stitch (12)
Rnd 3: *1sc, 2sc in next* repeat around (18)
Rnd 4: Handle, sl st in next, ch10, skip 8 and sl st in next, in back loops only: 18sc. (18)
Rnd 5: sc around (18)
Rnd 6: *1sc, sc2tog* repeat around (12)
Stuff basket with fiberfil
Rnd 7: *sc2tog* repeat around (6)
Weave through last 6 stitches, pull tight and weave in ends. Place basket in one hand and fold hand around the handle,
sew in place.
