Ripple in Still Water
W
hen you think of nature, the color blue may not come
to mind first. Those of us who live in landlocked states
don’t get the opportunity to see the ocean on a regular basis
and probably don’t immediately think of water when nature
is mentioned. Leaves and mountains, yes, but the beautiful
azure blue of waves? Not always. I’m a water lover and Fish
(astrologically, that is), and blue has always been one of my
favorite colors. Fortunately, blue is one of the hottest colors
in fashion right now. Paired with the white eyelet skirt, this
bright, azure blue T-shirt is especially fresh for summer. With
brown accessories and a dark denim jacket, the outfit is per-
fect for late-summer bonfire parties on the beach or for wood-
land picnics.
An outfit like this, composed of clothing basics, needs to
be accessorized especially well to make an impact. These long,
flowing earrings are the answer. Handmade ceramic beads
dangling from sterling silver chains are down-to-earth, but
the way they move with the wearer is dramatic. The colors of
the beads coordinate perfectly with the clothing, while the
design in the beads evokes yin and yang, the Chinese symbol
for the unity of opposites—female and male, cold and heat,
darkness and light, and even water and earth. Whether you
live by the sea or inland, with this ensemble you’re sure to
make waves.

1 cornerless cube. Make a wrapped loop that attaches to the
other end of the chain.
