1 Disconnect shift rod from intermediate lever
Remove retaining clip.

3.1 Remove insulation mat Model Series 163
4 Unscrew hexagon socket bolts (40) *BA27.60-P-1001-02A
5 Unplug connectors
From gear identification switch (S16/10),
reverse lamp switch (S16/10s2) and R/P lock
electromagnetic actuator (Y66/1).
6 Remove floor shift AR27.60-P-0920B
Disassemble and assemble floor shift
according to condition.
Installation: Check gasket (39) for correct
installation position and condition, replace if
necessary.
7 Install in the reverse order
After installing the floor shift, read out and
erase fault code using HHT, refer to DM
Chassis Volume 1 - Index 0.

Removal, installation
1 Remove cover at gearshift lever AR68.20-P-2310E
2 Remove ashtray housing at front of center AR68.20-P-2400E
console
3.1 Open lid above stowage compartment Vehicles with front armrest (code 570)
4.1 Remove carpet section in stowage tray Vehicles without front armrest
5 Unscrew screw (1) in stowage compartment
6 Unscrew screw (2)
7 Disconnect center console (3) at connection
For this purpose lift center console (3) until
point to dome (4)
the sliding plug connection (5) can be
separated.
8 Remove center console (3) When installing, attach sheet metal clip nuts
onto console above propeller shaft tunnel and
gearshift lever mount. Expose wiring to control
switches
9 Reinstall in opposite order

1 Remove cover at gearshift lever AR68.20-P-2310E
2 Unscrew screw (1) and pull stowage tray (2)
up and out
3 Unscrew screw (3) and remove spectacles For this purpose pry top mounting flange for
compartment (4) spectacles compartment (arrows) down over
cover (5).
4 Unscrew screw (6) on ashtray housing (7) and
remove ashtray housing (7)
5 Disconnect connector (R3x1) on ashtray
housing (7)
6 Put ashtray housing (7) down to side
7 Reinstall in opposite order

1 Remove selector lever handle (108) AR27.60-P-0920-01A
2 Unclip trim (109) (arrows)
3 Unclip cover (110) (arrows)
4 Unscrew bolt (111) *BA27.60-P-1003-02A
5 Move selector lever (112) into position "D"
6 Unclip upper section of bearing bracket (113)

7 Pull carrier (129) out of upper section of
bearing bracket and remove sliding cover

8 Take off gear display (114)
9 Disconnect gear identification switch (S16/10)
Installation: Move selector lever into
position "1"
In the installed position of the transmission
range recognition switch relative to shift shaft,
driver (115) must be positioned at the rear in
direction of travel (arrow).
10 Take off shift shaft (116) complete with

13 Unbolt shift detent (120) *BR00.45-Z-1001-06A
Installation: Grease ball.
14 Remove bearing bush on left (122); take pin
Inspect bearing bush for wear, replace if
(127) out of shift shaft with a press for this
necessary.

15 Separate shift shaft (116) with idler lever (97)
Installation: Grease pin lightly before
from sleeve (137) by removing pin (127)
installing it in the shift shaft.
Center shift modified BT27.60-P-0001-01A
16 Remove right bearing bush (121) from bracket
Inspect bearing bush for wear, replace if
necessary.
17 Take off supporting lever (119); release spring
(118) and take off circlip (119a) for this step
18 Take shift gate (128) off bottom part of bearing *BA27.60-P-1002-02A
bracket; unscrew hexagon socket bolts (123)
for this step
19 Reassemble in opposite order
20 Set play at shift lock AR27.60-P-0910A
