 This world is false and brahman is truth

 Since there is variety and form in this world, the spiritual
world

must

have no variety or form

 Krsna’s body, activities and devotional service to Him are
material

 Since the Supreme is all-pervading, He cannot be a
person

 Goal: to become one with Brahman

Mentality and Attitude

 Detached

 Usually rejects material world

 Fears personal identity (Bg. 4.10)

 Restricts self from material enjoyment (Bg.
2.59)

 Impure intelligence (BG 7.24)

 Rejects guru and deities after liberation

 I am God – or everyone is God

 Either envious of Krsna or ignorant of Krsna
(BG 9.11)

 May realize he is not the body, but is spirit

Action

 Tries to understand Brahman through mental speculation
and

study

of the Vedas (Upanisads) distinguishing between matter
and spirit

 Performs austerities restricting the senses

 May stop physical activities

 May perform pancopasana worship

 May do mundane welfare work

 Progress depends on own endeavor

 May meditate on the Supreme Lord in His universal form

Result

 He merges into Brahman (sayujyamukti)
