5 Write a rhyming poem.
1 You are going to write a poem that rhymes. Look at the rhyming pairs in Activity 2.
2 Write a first line for your poem. Then add pairs of lines that rhyme. You can use unusual
combinations of words! For example:
I m going to tell you about my week.
My cousin is a crazy girl!
On Monday, I built a house,
When she was one, she climbed a tower,
On Tuesday, I painted a mouse &
When she was two, she ate a flower &
3 Write a final line for your poem. For example:
What a busy week!
What a crazy girl!
6 Review your writing.
My Uncle Jim had a very busy day yesterday&
1 Read this poem. Is it interesting?
At seven o clock, he ate an eg,
2 Check the spelling of the nouns. There
are four mistakes here. Can you find
At eight o clock, he broke his leg!
them? Correct the mistakes.
At nine o clock, he brushed his hare,
3 Now read your poem. Can you find
At ten o clock he broke a chair!
any spelling mistakes? Correct them!
At eleven o clock he ate some pease,
At twelve o clock he sat on some chees!
7 Copy your poem neatly on a piece of paper.
