Language aims
Jobs: bus driver, doctor, postman, fireman, policeman, teacher, waiter
Procedure
1 Distribute the worksheets and ask pupils to give you the English words for the different workers (bus driver,
doctor, postman, fireman, policeman, teacher and waiter)
2 Read the words in the Word Bank aloud and check pupils understand the meaning.
3 Read the first sentence aloud, encouraging pupils to call out a word from the Word Bank to finish the sentence.
Pupils continue the exercise individually or in pairs, reading the sentences carefully and choosing a word from the
Word Bank. Check by reading the sentences out loud together.

Optional activity guessing game
Ask pupils to think of a job they would like to do when they are older.They should write down one sentence that
describes this job. Pupils take it in turns to read out their sentences for the rest of the class to guess the job.
