I would describe my favourite place in the world - The Parthenon.
It's the most popular building of ancient Greece. It was built in the 5th century BC on the Acropolis of Athens. The Parthenon is the symbol of ancient Greece and of Athenian democracy.
It's very big and it looks wonderful. In the past it was colourful, but because under influence of the weather it's white now.
You can see everything up here - the capital city looks very romantic tonight. I think it's a breathtaking view!
Inside of Parthenon there is Phidias's sculpture. It's very beautiful.
I want to go to Greece to see The Parthenon. I suppose it must be exciting and very interesting to watch building, which was built twenty-six centuries ago!
My favourite place in the world could be a humble white sand beach on a Malaysian island whose name I've long forgotten, over which hangs an undimmed canopy of stars. The waves off the South China Sea decide their own soundtrack, the sand's still warm from the daytime sun and the night seems to unwind into forever.
Or it could be the apartment where we live now, which, in my adult life, has been the place I've felt most permanently comfortable and safe in --- where all my stuff is (more or less) exactly where I want it to be and how I want it to be, where no one hustles me out of bed any earlier than I decide (sorry, Mom!), and where I can curl up and chill out any time I want to.
Or it could be the Charles Bridge at 7:30 am, the summer sunlight fierce on the bridge's wizened statues, the tourists mercifully absent. I take my time moseying --- is there a better summer word? --- from one figure to the next, not that I can remember any of their names now, and except for the odd street cleaner or old uncle out for a morning tipple, I've got the bridge all to myself.
Or it could be the breathless freedom of the mountain peaks just north of Vancouver, visible from just about everywhere in the city. I always say I could sit on a lawn in Vancouver and just watch the mountains, every day.
Or it could be that there could never be just one place for me, because I don't think any place could be everything, always.
Or maybe I'm just fickle that way.
My Favourite Place
Everyone has a special place, a place where you can be you, where you can find peace and harmony. A place where you know you are just happy being there.
For some it's a quiet place, for others it's a hustling, bustling, full of people and movemement place. But all of these places have one thing in common; they are places where you'd run to in times of both joy and stress.
Well I'd like to share something of my place and hopefully take you there in your mind.
My Place is but a few miles from where I live in England, a little area of woodland called Ashridge. It's around a mile or so long, with tall trees stretching up to the sky, letting the light come through in shafts through a canopy of green leaves joining to make a green umbrella. There are all shades of green and browns, with the sun teasing out yet more hues.
As you walk over a carpet of soft green grass, you hear the crack of a twig once in a while, and perhaps if you listen carefully a rustle of little creatures scurrying back and forth, as they head homeward. And every now and then you might (if you're lucky) catch a glimpse of a little bushy tale as its owner stops along its way to wonder at the strange almost unelegant thing called man that has invaded its territory.
As you walk on and further in you find little dips in your path. Yes, and clearings too. At one of these along your way, you find the good Lord had the most delightful sense to place a tree stump just in the right place for you to stop and tarry awhile, drinking in all that nature has to offer you. On one such occasion I was fortunate enough to see some small deer pass by, but they must have been in a hurry because they never stopped to say hello.
So why do I like my wood? Well in days of joy it tells me of all the sheer beauty of creativity that displays itself before our very eyes. A beauty that speaks to me, saying that all this cannot just be here by pure chance. Are we not more then just groups of chemicals interacting with each other?.
And in sadder, more reflective moments, as I walk my wood tells me of other things. The trees speak to me of the fact that they keep going, keep growing, ever looking upward. I find something comforting in that, that through many years of growth that tree has persisted.
As I look at the plants, they tell me that there is a place for everthing. For some are destined to grow on the woodland floor, while others reach loftier places. But they all have their place. We should learn contentment where we are, while at the same time seeking to be the best that we might be.
The variety of animals tells me that life goes on all about me. Often the key to my darker moments is to become immersed in the life that's all around me, and soon my sadness is lost as I share in the life of others.
So that's my place. Why not join me there sometime.
Since I was a little child, I have watched many movies, especially Asian movies. Those movies have influenced me in many ways, but the most influential ones are Korean movies. If I were awarded an expense paid trip to any one place in the world, the first place that I could think of is to visit Korea. Korea is a country that makes the most popular movies in Asia. Their fashion seems to stand out the most to me. I also love their language and culture.
First of all, Korea produces the highest rated movies in Asia. There are many reasons that make Korean movies become so popular to Asians. Success of Korean dramas, a market dominated by the youth, can be attributed to good looking actors and actresses who embody a number of traits that are very familiar to regular drama viewers and popular fantasies among women. More importantly, though, the shows and movies have themes that all audiences can socially relate to regardless of culture or geographical location. Korean dramas typically deal with family issues, love, and filial piety in an age of changing technology and values. There are many chapters and sections that would make me keep me up to two or three o'clock in the morning, without any sleep, just to sit and watch them.
Secondly, most of the countries in Asia are influenced by the Korean's fashion, including my country, Vietnam. The styles that most of Asians dress in today world have come from Korea. Their designs are very neat, comfortable, and look classic. In fact, their fashion somehow always stands out to me, and amaze of their creativeness. I would love to dress in Korean styles, and get lot of complements on them. I'm always proud of their work and praise them to keep up with their good work.
Lastly, I would like to know more Korean's language and culture. Every country has its own culture; however, I'm very interested in Korean's language. I have seen my Korean speaking, and that makes me want to have the ability to do the same....
My favourite place to live
Everyone dreams of the place where she or he would like to live in the future. Some of us dream of nice and small cottage with the huge garden located in the mountains or in the forest. But some people want to have a big well-equipped flat in one of the modern blocks. But for most of us these are just dreams, which often don't fulfill. Today people are afraid of their future and they want to have the roof over the head no matter where it will be.
When I was younger I wasn't afraid of my future. Moreover, I didn't think a lot about it, but I had an imagination of my perfect house. I would like to live somewhere where the climate is friendlier. I think Polish climate is too cold. I would like to live in a place where the temperature is over zero degree during the whole year. What is more, I would like to live near the sea, where I could swim. My house could be located near the Mediterranean Sea. The surrounding should be beautiful and breathtaking. I would like to have a huge house on the sea shore. There would be a lot of balconies. I wouldn't need the heating and the warm clothes, because all year there would be sunny weather. I would invite my Polish friends and my family to spend the holiday in my house. There would be enough rooms for everyone.
There are so many interesting and beautiful places all over the world. I hope I could live in a warm country in the future.
