The Enochian Aethyrs
There comes a time in nearly every Enochian Magickian's life when he/she becomes interested in the Aethyrs. Many times, this is their primary reason for coming to Enochian magick.
The Enochian Aethyrs are "worlds" of spiritual existence beyond the Great Watchtowers. Thirty in total (or, at the least, achievable by mankind), the magickian begins with the thirtieth Aethyr, TEX, and works his/her way to to the first one, LIL. The order of the Aethyrs are as follows:

20. CHR |
10. ZAX |

This next chart shows the relation of the Aethyrs and the four worlds of Kabbalah as well as how they stretch forth beyond the Great Watchtowers of the Universe.
Each Aethyr is achieved through the recitation of the NinSnth Call, better known as the Call of the Aethyrs, using the respective Aethyr within the first line. In good measure, the Magickian follows the Call with vibrating the names of the Aethyr's Governors. With the exception of TEX, each Aethyr has a total of three Governors.
Viewing each Aethyr can be done either by skrying or by traveling in the "Spirit Vision", a form of Astral Projection. Different mediums can be used in the skrying method. One may use a well-consecrated Magick Mirror, a black bowl filled with water, a crystal ball, or a shewstone (as used by Dee and Kelly). Alternatively, the Magickian may prefer to use no tools, but skry using the back of one's eyelids.
As per traveling in the Spirit Vision, this is a much more difficult task for most individuals. Some people can do it as if it was second nature, and some people may never be able to do it. Like Astral Projection, this form allows the Magickian to travel the Aethyrs in his/her Body of Light. This method is certainly more of a cerebral enlightenment, as the Magickian can fully see his/her surroundings since he/she is not confined to the skrying medium. This method also adds a more certain degree of danger, since you will be facing the entities you meet as opposed to simply viewing them through a skrying medium. If you should meet an entity that is malevolent, simply vibrating the names of the Governors should be enough to drive it away. Â
Vibrating the name of the Governors also works effectively when you are skrying and a questionable entity makes an appearance. In fact, the best thing to do is to vibrate the name of the Governors when ANY entity appears. If it is a malevolent entity, it will leave you alone. If it is positive, the entity will stay and will not be offended by this gesture. Truly, it is better to be safe than sorry.
The obvious goal of the Aethyrs is to work your way down to LIL. This is often known as the Great Work of Enochian magick. The first four Aethyrs are not very difficult in achieving. Through the Spirit Vision, it is really a matter of being able to "let go" of oneself. A good discipline in Yoga will often benefit you in the ability to quiet the mind and relax the body to the point of where you can "let go". The rest of the Aethyrs rely upon your spiritual evolution and they will not let you in to reap the mysteries until you have evolved to a specific point. Indeed, it may take a lifetime for some people to achieve LIL, whereas it will take very little time for other people.
Contrary to popular belief, each persons visions will NOT be exactly the same as Aleister Crowley's visions within Liber 418- "The Vision and the Voice".  When I first began Enochian Magick and had evolved to the point where I wanted to travel the Aethyrs, I was told that Crowley's visions will nearly be identical to mine. Wrong. Whereas my vision had some of the "sign posts" of TEX, it was anything but identical. The visions with the Aethyrs are often very personal in nature and will often convey a personal message to each person. Each of them have their similarities, no doubt, but no two visions will be 100% identical.  Within the Links section of this website, you will find a link to the Thelemic interpretation of the Thirty Aethyrs.
