Unit 5
Presenter I'm here at the new Parkland Safari Park and I'm talking to Gina Cliff. Gina's the director of the park. Gina, good morning.
Gina Hello.
Presenter This is a fantastic safari park. My family love it.
Gina Thank you. We hope people enjoy their visits here.
Presenter Why do you think this safari park is so popular?
Gina Well, we have a lot of different animals here. There are animals from every continent. People can't usually see them - only in books or on holiday! Here they can drive past amazing animals and see how they behave.
Presenter What are your favourite animals here?
Gina Oh - I have lots of favourites! I love the lions. You know, you can drive in your car through the lion park. They come up to your car door!
Presenter Isn't that very dangerous?
Gina It's not dangerous when you're in the car. It's more dangerous out of it! People have to stay in their cars!
Presenter Do you have another favourite?
Gina Well, we have a lake in the centre of the park and there are some unusual fish in it. There are also some beautiful water birds.
Presenter Do you have any special things for young children to look at?
Gina There is a snake and insect house! The children love that! The parents don't! And we have a children's zoo. Children can play with some of the small animals there and they can see some new baby animals. It's not dangerous for them at all.
Presenter And you have a shop and a restaurant too.
Gina That's right. When you're tired you can sit down and have a meal. And you can buy some souvenirs from the shop.
Presenter A really good day out for all the family! Thank you very much, Gina.
Gina You're welcome!
Unit 6
A
We stayed in the city centre and the hotel was really good. It was very old with big rooms and we could walk to the museums and galleries in three minutes!
B
Our holiday was excellent! We stayed with some friends in their flat and they showed us all the best places to see. They also cooked us some fantastic traditional food! We're going again next year!
C
We had to walk everywhere! It was terrible. We couldn't speak the language and we couldn't understand the bus system. So we walked. We all got really tired. Our hotel was very small and the rooms were cold. It was near the railway station and we could hear the trains all through the night!
D
It's a very modern city with a lot of new department stores. The shops are wonderful. It was a shopping holiday really! My mum and I had a lot of fun. Dad isn't interested in shops so he stayed in the hotel room a lot and watched TV! For our next holiday we're going to a beach. Dad likes that!

C
Interviewer Where do you go when you want to eat out?
Eric When it's a birthday or something like that I like the Indian Restaurant, Masala Magic, in Baker Road. The meals are delicious and the waiters are very friendly too.

Fiona It's got to be the Thai restaurant, Bangkok or Bust. It opened last week. I went with my friends on Thursday and we had a fantastic evening.

E
Interviewer What's the name of your favourite restaurant?

Unit 9
1
Oh - my worst journey was when I went to Australia. I usually love flying and I've travelled a lot in Europe but this journey was so long! I got very bored and I read two books all the way through!
2
When I was twelve I went to New York with my mum and dad. We went to see my sister. She had a job over there. We went by ship because my dad doesn't like planes and I was sick for the whole journey. I had to stay in bed for two days. It was terrible. I haven't travelled by ship again!
3
Oh yes. I remember my worst journey. I was five years old and I was on the London Underground with my mum. And I lost her! I cried and cried and an old lady took me to the ticket office. I was there for an hour! Today I hate undergrounds and I don't go on them.
4
I visited my friend in Italy last summer. First, I got up late and I missed the plane! Then the airline company lost my bags! I didn't have any clothes for a week. I had to buy new ones. That was a really bad journey.
5
Last Monday I finished work at 5.30 in London and took the train home. The train stopped after twenty minutes because it had a problem. They arranged a bus for us. We got on the bus and then after ten minutes the bus stopped. It had a problem too. We got off the bus and they ordered taxis for us. We waited for the taxis but they didn't come. We were there for two hours! Finally they arrived and took us home. A one hour journey took five hours. It was terrible!
Unit 10
1
My dream job is to be a teacher. I think it's an interesting job and also you get a lot of free time! I know teachers have to work hard in the evenings and at the weekend but in the summer they get the same breaks as the children. That's cool!
2
I'd like to have a job where I don't work alone. I like working with other people and it's good to plan things and do them together. People are good at different things and if you work together you can do more.
3
My brother's a chef and he's very good at his job. He thinks I should be a chef too. I like cooking but the thing is - he works very late. He works every evening and Saturday nights too. He doesn't have much time to have fun! I'd like a job that's nine to five.
4
I'll never work in a shop because I'm not very good with people! I'm not very patient and I know when you work in a shop you have to smile all the time and answer people's questions. I prefer office work.
5
One day I'll have a job where I can earn a lot! I love shopping and buying things so the pay is important for me! I suppose a doctor earns a lot or maybe an engineer. I know it takes a long time to study to become a doctor - but well, I think I can do that!
