Giving Directions
Tutor notes:
The exercise may be used by groups, individual learners or pairs working together.
Learners read the `From' and `To' instructions on the worksheet and decide on a route to be followed. Tutors can encourage the use of compass points as well as `turn left, `turn right' etc. It may be helpful to use a separate sheet of paper to `rough' out the instructions first. Space is limited in the `directions' box so learners need to take care in completing it. There are no right or wrong answers. The object of the exercise is to develop communication, vocabulary and writing skills, and the learner has the opportunity to use imagination creatively.
Learners should date and retain their worksheets and revisit the exercise periodically to assess improvement.
Skills employed:
Observation
Problem Solving
Decision making
Working with others
Vocabulary
Sentence construction

Grammar
