Elite Housing

Rachel Carr is a wealthy socialite with inherited money. She doesn't work and spends all her time going to parties, meeting people and deciding where to invest. One night, she goes to a party and meets a real estate agent named Dylan Peterson. In talking, she advises him that she is looking for a house and he reveals that he is a real estate agent so he gives her his card. Throughout their conversation, Dylan suggests that they might meet later to discuss her charity work and other things, as well. Rachel is frosty toward him, but decides as she leaves the party that it might be a good idea to work with him.

Rachel doesn't want to get her hopes up. She has everything she could want, except for the fact that she's lonely. She goes to a charity event the next day and feels listless and lonely there too, despite being surrounded by people and being the principle benefactor at the event.

Rachel meets Dylan for lunch a few days after the charity event and is hopeful for the day as well as the luxury houses they are looking at. She is a quite a lot more impressed by him this time as she witnesses his professionalism. He describes to her the house he thinks she might like, which is more like a massive mansion. They decide to go and see the mansion she is interested in and they go inside. The house really works both for the formal efforts Rachel wants for charity work and for her personal needs. Dylan is a professional despite his attraction to Rachel. He doesn't want to make any moves too soon, but the timing for this is perfect and his hopes are already high. Rachel makes a show of ignoring his barely apparent affections.

Dylan calls Rachel the next night after her party and asks if they can meet again sometime soon. Rachel agrees that they should, in part because of the house, but also because she wants to get to know him better now that she has had time to see how professional and calculating he can be. She thinks he is more interesting than most people she's met because he doesn't just seem to be interested in her for her money and is, instead, gentle but assertive.

Rachel and Dylan meet up and they go out to eat the next night, presumably to talk business. They talk and laugh as Dylan is more open than he has been in the past. Rachel decides on the house. Dylan kisses her hand goodnight. Rachel is excited that he is so bold. No one has kissed her in so long, and it is been even longer since she kissed someone back.

They meet the next day and work on finalizing the deal for the house. He convinces the current owners to let her start moving her things in a bit early since it is such a huge move.

As Rachel spends more time with Dylan she is becoming more attracted to him. But Dylan seems colder and colder the more she gets to know him because he is trying not to mix business with how he feels about her. Dylan goes back to work that evening and tells his bosses that he is about to close a big deal. However, he does not tell them that he is attracted to Rachel. His boss tells him he could make more than twenty percent more if he just plays up the assets of the house a little bit. Dylan tells them he'll try, but makes a show of mentioning how savvy Rachel is.

The next night Rachel and Dylan meet at his house while movers come to clean out Rachel's old packed up apartment. Rachel is past resisting Dylan's advances. What begins as dinner with wine and candlelight ends with the two of them in bed together passionately making love. They fall asleep in each others' arms. With Rachel thinking through the ways she and Dylan can work together and what they mean to each other.

They are awakened in the night by a call from Dylan's boss at the real estate agency. Frank answers on his cell phone, trying his best not to disturb Rachel, but she wakes anyway. She is curious as he takes the phone to the other room. Rachel overhears him telling the boss how he closed the deal and will file the paperwork tomorrow just in time for a big time pay day. Rachel goes to listen further but doesn't catch much more. Dylan hangs up and tells her happily that everything is set and she can move in completely the next day, while he hides the fact that the boss wanted to gouge her for more money because he knows she has it. Rachel is glad, but can't put her finger on the uneasiness that she feels. She worries at once that he might be using her for her money and her love. Her heart churns and she jumps to further conclusions. She doesn't tell Dylan what she is thinking though because she is worried she'll drive him away.

Rachel moves into her new house but everything in it reminds her of Dylan. She can't stand it, and she wonders if she can really live there long term. She knows it's because of Dylan that she feels uncomfortable, so she goes out to a charity party that evening. Dylan, meanwhile, is looking for Rachel because he has realized she is avoiding him since the previous night. Dylan is nervous she might have decided she wasn't attracted to him after all. They run into each other at a party and Dylan tells her he cannot just let her go because he cares about her too much. She protests and says she can't forgive him for using her so easily. He tells her he couldn't ever deceive her and he never would have tried because she's too smart. He never meant for anything other than to make her happy and she has to know he cares about her. They kiss and Rachel forgives him.
