Lesson 22

1 Unfortunately you don't find so many buskers playing music on the tube any more.

2 They have stopped traffic going through the market square, so that now there are only pedestrians.

3 The streets of London are filled with homeless people asking for money to help them find food and shelter for the night.

4 If you go to the market you can find ­­­ fortune tellers who will tell you all about your future love-life and money prospects.

5 There are far too many cars filled with angry drivers on the roads nowadays.

6 You need to be careful where you park the car, or you might meet a traffic warden who will give you a parking ticket.

7 I often stop to buy a cigarette lighter or a flower from one of the many street vendors.

Lesson 23

1 A shoplifter is someone who takes things from a shop without paying.

2 A murderer kills someone deliberately and illegally.

3 A hitman is a criminal who is paid to kill somebody.

4 A kidnapper takes someone away illegally and imprisons them, often for money or some political purpose.

5 A pickpocket may take your purse or wallet from your bag without you noticing.

6 A mugger may attack a victim in a public place in order to steal money from him.

7 A smuggler takes something or someone across a border illegally.

8 A hijacker may take control of an aircraft in order to achieve a political aim.

Lesson 24

6 I can hardly walk in these shoes. They are so uncomfortable. [high-heels]
