How can we reduce crime and violence?

Violence is everywhere today. In the home, at work, in school and on television. Every-day we are expose to it. There are a lot of causes of violence. For example many young people want to join to gangs to have profits. Crimes are committed because of poverty and unemployment. Low social position causes people to ignore the suffering of others. Many people think that prison or death penalty could reduce serious crime.

In my opinion the key to putting on end to violence is the right upbringing and education. Children should grow up in a world with rules, order and high moral standards. Stricter sentences will not solve anything because we should focus our attention on causes not symptoms.
