We are all egoists. In love with ourselves, or eager to love ourselves, looking at the world according to our own views, and through the prism of our own experiences. Mostly blindly.
When we do something, we do so with a view to someone and we give 100% of ourselves. This is not selfish. But selfish is waiting for payment. We hope for a sultry smile or words of appreciation.
We all probably, sometimes, prepare for dinner a sandwich with cheese for example, cutting into it a few slices of cucumber. We will try to do it better when we do it for somebody else, because we can get more.
And so in every relationship between people, there are people who give and people who take.
Everyone thinks mostly about himself. We are the single centers of our worlds. Even dropping $ 20 to Jurek Owsiak's box or making transfer to the "Pajacyk" fundation, we help another human being, but mostly we do this to make ourselves feel good.
Even finding a partner for whom we are able to leave the country, lose twenty pounds, and do a tattoo of wagging cat on the whole back , we are with a person who just satisfies our needs, and just makes us happy, a person with whom we can talk.
What is interesting, an example of behavior completely devoid of selfishness, is the behavior of the mother in relation to her child. Maybe somewhere deeper I would have found (because in the end mom wanted the baby) a little bit of egoism, but except for being healthy, mothers do not need anything from their newborn babies.
Of course, after some time it changes and the relationship becomes more selfish, full of needs, dreams and expectations about children, but really, the ratio of mother to her child is unique.
The most important duty in life is to make sure what is the best for ourselves, which way in our lives we should follow and what will satisfy our lust.
