Clement Richard Attlee, 1st Earl Attlee, (3 January 1883 – 8 October 1967) was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1945 to 1951. The Labour Party under Attlee won a landslide election victory over Winston Churchill immediately after Churchill had led Britain through World War II. He was the first Labour Prime Minister to serve a full Parliamentary term and the first to have a majority in Parliament.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (2 October 1869–30 January 1948), also known as Mahatma Gandhi, was a major political and spiritual leader of India and the Indian independence movement. Richard Austen Butler, Baron Butler of Saffron Walden, KG, CH, PC, DL (9 December 1902–8 March 1982), who invariably signed his name R. A. Butler and was familiarly known as Rab, was a British Conservative politician.

Butler was one of the few British politicians to have served in the three posts of Chancellor of the Exchequer, Home Secretary and Foreign Secretary, but never achieved—and was twice passed over for—the premiership.


Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, (30 November 1874 – 24 January 1965) was a British politician known chiefly for his leadership of Great Britain during World War II. He served twice as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from. A noted statesman and orator, Churchill was also an officer in the British Army, a historical writer, and an artist.


Maurice Harold Macmillan, 1st Earl of Stockton,(10 February 1894 – 29 December 1986) was a British Conservative politician and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Nicknamed 'Supermac' (after the 'cartoon character) he did not use his first name and was known as Harold Macmillan before elevation to the peerage. When asked what represented the greatest challenge for a statesman, Macmillan replied: “Events, my dear boy, events”.


Robert Anthony Eden, 1st Earl of Avon, (12 June 1897 – 14 January 1977) was a British politician who was Foreign Secretary for three periods and Prime Minister from 1955 to 1957.His world-wide reputation as a "Man of Peace" and skilled diplomat was severely damaged by his conduct of the Suez Crisis in 1956, which was considered disastrous for Britain and a decisive sign of the decline of the British Empire.


James Harold Wilson, Baron Wilson of Rievaulx, (11 March 1916 – 24 May 1995) was one of the most prominent British politicians of the 20th century. He emerged as Prime Minister after more general elections than any other 20th century premier. He contested 5 general elections and received victory in 4 of them. He is the most recent British Prime Minister to serve non-consecutive terms.
