opis czynności, która była w trakcie trwania, gdy została przerwana przez inną czynność, np.
She was sleeping when the phone rang.

Twierdzenia:

Odpowiednia dla danej osoby forma czasu przeszłego czasownika `to be' (was/were) oraz czasownik z końcówką -ing
