smali flower s e c t i o n

Foundation: Using off-white yarn, ch 4, turn.

Row 1: 11 dc in 4th ch from hk, sl st in top of ch-4, do not turn.

Row 2: Ch 3. 2 dc in ea st, dc in base of ch-3, sl st in top of ch-3 - 24 sts.

Row 3: Ch 3 (dc in next st, 2 dc in next st) rep 11 times, dc in next st, dc in base of ch*3, sl st in top of ch-3 - 36 sts.

Row 4: (Sk 2, 8 dc in next st, sk 2, sl st in next 4 sts) rep 3 times, sk 2, 8 dc in next st, sk 2, sl st in next 3 sts.

Row 5: (2 dc in 8 sts of next shell, sl st between shells) rep 4 times.

Weave in ends.

Beg same as the Smali Flower Section above through row 5.

Row 6: 2 dc in ea st on CL, sl st between Cl.s.

Project after felting.

Foundation: Ch 20, turn.

Row 1: Ch 1, working in the back half of the st, 6 sc, 3 hdc, 10 dc,

8 dc in last st, working up other side of sts. 10 dc, 3 hdc, 3 sc, 2 sl st.

Weave in ends.

assembly

Sew the smali and large flower sections together along row 4, stuffing with fiberfil before closing completely. Sew leaves to bottom of large flower so they are about halfway beyond the flower. (Use the photos of the finished project as a guide).

felting

Felt in the washer, checking occasionally to see if the pincushion is completely felted. When it is felted to the desired texture, adjust to the finished shape and let dry in a warm, dry place.
