One shuttle and a second thread from a bali of thread are used for all of these items. If the ring thread and chain thread are to be the same color, fili the shuttle and leave it attached to the bali.
A second bali of the same thread makes it possible to fili the shuttle again and j ust continue using the first bali for the chain thread. Fewer knots and ends to be worked in make the piece look better when it is finished—and also reąuire less work.
To make a chain, wrap the bali thread the little finger of the left hand as shown Work the double stitches the same as rings.
Lock joins are used to join chains to picots that are below and to the right of the chain. They do not slide on the thread. To make a lock join, puli a loop of shuttle thread through the joining picot (Fig. 2). Pass the shuttle through this loop, carefully ease the join into position and tighten the thread.
