visits Pollyanna

The day Betsy met Hayley Mills, both were wearing this very dress. It is madę of Arnel and cotton, and it has a BIG sailor collar

This is Beisy McCall in a Dacron-cotton-and-nylon slip. It is macic ovcr an undcrskirt of nylon taffeta, and it’s completely washablc

“Dear Linda,” Betsy wrote from Hollywood, California, “I had the most exc:iting adven-ture. This friendly girl who sat next to me at an ice-cream bar was a MOVIE ACTRESS. Her name is Hayley Mills, and she invited me to see her acting in this Disney movie, Polly-annn. She'$ the STAR, and she plays the part of a little girl who always finds something to be glacl about, even though sometimes it’s very bard to see why. Like being an orphan, which she was in the movie. Anyway, I went, and I met morę movie stars—Jane Wyman and Adolphe Menjou, and a boy named Kevin Corcoran, who looks like Sandy. And that night, they had an old-fashioned bazaar scene with hundreds of people and watermelons and corn on the eob and zillions of lanterns and balloons and real olden-time automobiles, old-er than Grandma, Mommy said. The director, Mr. Swift, said, ‘Betsy, how would you like to be in this scene?' Would I! And was I ever GLAD! I was all puffed up with gladness and also watermelon. But when I saw the movie— Linda, guess what! My face is hidden by a big balloon, and all you can see is my dress. Isn’t that AWFUL? Mommy said: ‘You can still be glad that you were in it.’ Honestly, mothersl Love, Betsy.

P.S. This is what I’m glad about: Thank goodness, / don’

(o be glad all the time, like sonie people.”

Betsy calls this her summer-autumn dress, be-cause the cotton fabric is cool enough for hot days, dark enough to wear back to school

This long-torso dress. of Arnel and cotton. is like one you’ll see in Pollyanna. There are smali tabs for a red sash to slide through
