Repetitiye compoundina:
holtwudu (wood-wood, forest);
gangelwaefre (going about one, swift moving one, in OE reserved as the words for spider);
under this class is the later compound flutterby, which was transposed in Modern English into butterfly.
Noun-adiective formations:
graesgrene (grass green);
lofgeorn (praise eager);
goldhroden (gold adorned - zdobiony złotem).
Prefix formations: here, as in other Germanie languages, the most common way of creating new words.
OE had many prefixes that derived from prepositions and that altered the meaning of words in special ways.
BE + COME = to arrive into sth;
BE + WARE = to be extra careful;
WITH = OE word for against,
WITHSTAND = to stand against.

Not all OE prefixes have come down into Modern English. But for instance the OE prefix tó can be found today in such words as today, towards and together.
