Use para to indicate the foliowing relationships:

•    Purpose. Para indicates the purpose of an action or goal, equivalent to the English phrase in order to. It may indicate the purpose or the use of an action, an event, or an object.

Comemos para vivir.    We eat (in order) t o live.

Bill estudia para enfermero.    Bill studies to be a nurse.

La reunión es para comentar el libro. The meeting is to discuss the book.

Necesito una caja para mis cosas.    I need a boxfor my things.

•    Comparison. Para indicates the contrast of an idea, person, object, or situation in order to dis-tinguish it from others in the same group or category.

Para una revista de modas, es muy    For a fashion magazine, it is very expensive.

•    Deadlines. Para indicates datę, time, and deadlines in the futurę. Some English equivalents

are for, by, or on.

•    Destination. The intended destination preceded by para may be a place or a person.
