Indefinite and JVegative Words and Espressions
You are probably already familiar with most of the words and expressions in this unit. Indefinite and negative words can be adjectives (alguno[a], sowie), pronouns (nadie, no one, nobody), or adverbs (nunca, never).
Algunas personas no viajan Some people do not trcwel por avión. by piane.
No veo a nadie. I do not see anyon e.
No sale nunca. He never goes out.
Algo and nada may be pronouns that describe something imprecise and, therefore, indefinite.
Algo puede cambiar. Something may change.
Yet these two words serve as aduerbs in situations such as:
Marta se sień te algo mejor ahora.
No me gusta esta situación nada.
Marta feels somewhat better now.
I do not like this situation at all.
Conjunctions may also be used as indefinite and negative words. Notę: O... o... and ni... ni... are always used in pairs:
O salimos o nos quedamos. Either we go or we stay.
No voy a salir ni ahora ni I am not going to leave, nunca. neither now nor ever.
By grouping these expressions together as indefinite and negative words, we can focus on their uses and contrast them with their English equivalents.
