Removing Front Wheel (Servi-Car)

Raise front end of Servi-Car by blocking-up unddrneath motor.

If wheel is to be taken out just for tire or wheel service and then re-assembled. it is not necessary to detach from brake drum. Detach-ment from brake drum is necessary only when wheel is to be replaced with another wheel.

Take out axle and remove spacer from between hub and right side fork rocker. Wheel, with or without brake drum attached, is then free to come out.

Wheels

Wheels normally reąuire little attention other than ample lubrica-tion of bubs. See "Chassis Lubrication." Occasionally, set motor-cycle on rear stand, błock up front end of motorcycle to raise front wheel, and check adjustment of hubs. Adjustment is all right when only a smali amount of side shake can be found at rim of wheel. Also check spokes and tighten any found loose. Servi-Car rear wheels have solid hubs and the only attention wheels reąuire is occasional checking for loosened spokes.

Adjusting Rear Chain (Servi-Car)

Loosen nuts on the 4 bolts in frame clamp at each end of rear axle housing. Nuts should not be removed but just loosened enough to allow claraps to slide freely on frame tubes. Also loosen lock nuts on axle adjusting screws in frame fittings just ahead of axle clamps. Tum adjusting screws as necessary to correctly re-adjust chain (turn left to tighten chain). Tum each adjusting screw an eąual number of turns in order to keep rear axle assembly in correct alignment. Alignment can be checked by noting that at each end of axle housing there is about eąual distance from housing frame clamp to frame fitting that carries adjusting screw. When correctly adjusted, securely tighten clamp bolt nuts, and also tighten adjusting screw lock nuts. Caution—always re-check chain adjustment after everything is secure. as sometimes tightening clamps affects adjustment to some extent. Do not leave chain with an over-tight adjustment.

Adjusting rear chain affects rear brake adjustment, therefore, brakes must be checked to be surę they are not too tight and dragging. See "Adjusting Rear Wheel Brakes (Servi-Car)."

Removing Servi-Car Rear Wheels

Servi-Car rear wheels do not need to be removed for tire repair or tire replacement. Wheels are secured with nut on tapered end of axle shafts. Removing reąuires a special puller. See your dealer in case a puller is needed.

Adjusting Rear Wheel Brakes (Servi-Car)

Adjust length of main brake rod. connecting footpedal and axle housing cross shaft, so that footpedal can be pushed downward about lA of its fuli movement before brakes start to take effect. If adjusted so there is less free pedał movement, brakes may drag. Main brake rod is provided with a clevis at rear end to permit adjusting its length.

Following main rod adjustment. test on the road and if necessary. eąuałize brakes by re-adjusting length of short brake rod at either rear wheel. With rear brakes not well eąualized, Servi-Car will puli sideways when brakes are applied.
