At this stoge it is advisable to remove, cleon and reset sparking plugs to manufacturers specification.
Ref it, using pług spanner supplied with car tool kit but using only the 4£" long tommy bar supplied with the Sprint Kit. This provides adequate tightening torque and this operation is an important factor for easier pług maintenance when the conversion is completed.
INLET MANIFOLD ADAPTORS. (Diagram 4 . Photos 8 & 9).
Offer-up inlet manifold adaptors to inlet ports in heads and make surę that the odaptors supplied are correct for that model of engine.
Diagram 4 shows the various types of port for which odaptors are available. If you have the wrong adaptors, order the correct adaptor set by the part number given.
Check condition of inlet port sealing rings and renew if damaged.
Fit inlet manifold adaptor to each head, (Photos 8 & 9). On some 1300 models, the pressed metal around this area may require to be set slightly to permit correct seating of adaptors. It is advisable to use a smear of a non-setting jointing compound on the monifold-to-head joint. Take care not to over-tighten the nuts as the 6 mm studs are easily stripped out of the cylinder heads.
CARBURETTOR ASSEMBLIES. (Photos 9, 10 & 11 and Diagram 3).
Connect choke cable entering right hand side of engine compartment to the left hand carburettor ossembly ensuring that the choke control on dash is pushed fully home and the carburettor choke mechanism is in the "OFF" position. (Photos 9 & 10). Fit inlet manifold/carburettor ossembly to left hand inlet manifold adaptor, checking location of rubber 'O' ring is correct, and with air cleaner towards bulkheod. Sccure ossembly with 5/16" UNF nuts, plain and spring woshers provided.
With similar procedurę, assemblo opposite choke cable to right hand carburettor ossembly and fit to inlet adaptor on right side of engine.
Fit carburettor steady channel between the steady plates and secure using 4" x 5/16" UNF set screws, nuts and woshers provided . (Photo 11). Tighten air cleaner mounting bolts.
