As the popularity of extended storylines and multi-tide crossovers grew, Marvel produced morę new tides and added gimmicks like holograms, foil-stamping and die-cut designs to covers. New versioas of Deathlok and Chost Rider joined tides like New Warriors and Guardians of the Galaxy in 1990. “The Infmity Gauntlet,” the first of three major crossovers, arrived in 1991. “Operation: Galacdc Storni” sprawled across the Avengers-related tides and a series set in the year 2099 began with Ravage 2099 and Spider-Man 2099 in
1992. “Maximum Carnage” threatened all the Spider-Man tides and Daredevil experienced a “Fali from Grace” as Cable, Night Thrasher and Thimderstrike graced
1993. New team books like Fantastic Force, Force Works and Generation X-Meti marked 1994, and 1995 was highlighted by the “Age of Apocalypse”, an event that briefly re-named all the X-Men tides and launched X-Man. The crossovers “Onslaught” and “Heroes Reborn,” dominated 1996 and the spotlight fell on Heroes For Hire and Thtwderbolts in 1997. “Heroes Return” was the big news in 1998, and Earth X, set in an alternate reality, debuted in 1999.
