5 Ask Ss to read the example and notÄ™ the advice. Explain that Ss must give advice for the situations with the ideas in the box. Ss can work alone to write the sentences and then compare in pairs.

sentence on the board and highlight to show how the consonant and vowel run into each other. Ask the Ss to practice saying the phrase quickly, linking the sounds. Explam that this linking is a feature of spoken English. Ask Ss to tum to page 135 and to listen and repeat the phrases after the recording.

Ask who they think is speaking (parent/child or friends). Ss should practise the conversation in closed pairs. Ensure they change and practise both roles.
Ask Ss to read through the other ways of giving advice etc. and pronounce each phrase chorally. Say to the class /Ve cut my hand and ask a stronger student to improvise a dialogue with yourself. Repeat this two or three times until Ss are confident.
9 Put Ss in pairs to create their own roleplays. using the ailments and treatments in Exercise 4. A weak class may need to write the dialogue first and then perform it for the rest of the class.
