THROWING ACTION FOR HIP THROW
In the throw demonstrated here, the First Pivot is shown as beginning action. Any of the first six pivots may be practiced with this throw. Vary pivots for best training procedurę.
Step One: Pivot.
Step Two: For Hip Throw Form.
Feet in natural position, both Thrower's feet directly in front of Receiver's feet, knees bent, knees and toes point out, weight equal on both feet; upper body bent strongly left, placing Thrower's hip at Receiver's thigh; left hand maintains firm grip on Receiver's right sleeve, right hand grips Receiver's jacket at lapel area, right elbow locks into Receiver's left armpit, Photo #1.
Step Three: Thrower pulls down and around with his left hand as his right arm follows the same path to move up and over. Upper body of Throw -er makes twist in same direction as arms to assist action. Simultaneous motion of both arms and body combine to break balance of Receiver so that his weight rests completely on right hip of Thrower for the instant before throw is com-pleted. (Practice this step many many times until you can do it as an EASY action. Strength is not essential to this action). Photo #2.
Step Four: Throw.
Sharp, snappy continuation of the arm and body action in Step Three, with a sudden straightening of both knees will complete the throw, Photo #3.
Step Five: Finish.
As Receiver leaves Thrower's body, Thrower steps back into strong balance stance, maintain-ing grip on Receiver's sleeve and pulls on sleeve with slight pressure to avoid being taken off balance Photo #4
